The brown areas sort of look like what is happening to a few of mine.I hope it's not.This stuff spreads like a plague.I'm leaning towards bacterial canker that is on my plants. Has it been rainy in your location recently?I think it is distributed that way. I had to cut away a lot from one plant and still don't know if it is going to survive. Here is a link to some photos. Wow, thanks for that link, Mike! No wonder we had such a hard time straightening it out; even without the language barrier, and even with botanists' degrees, it sounds like people have trouble. I've had this kind of problem with translating food names in the past. My French is pretty good, but was acquired at school through reading Literature and polished in a year in France at age 23, living in a garret room with minimal kitchen and eating baguette & cheese and drinking red wine. So while I can easily converse about romanticism and art history, I often discover significant holes in my vocabulary when it comes to some pretty basic things, such as household items (dishtowel? floor mat?), animals that don't appear in the Fables of Lafontaine (my young Quebecois nieces and nephews mocked me for not knowing how to say "moth") and words for foods--ingredient foods, things you wouldn't encounter in a Paris restaurant! Will be interested to hear what you have, calliope, if you ever figure it out. I hear you about the getting caught up. Seems like by the time I recover from the tomato deluge (the only thing I grow myself in serious quantity), I am scrambling to get apples & pears put up while they're available, leaving me little energy to remember even to buy and freeze cranberries! Zabby, who should probably remember that overabundance is a BLESSING, not a problem, really...

We put snow in the pot to keep it from drying out while living in the porch. (We certainly had plenty to spare ...) I'll keep in mind for next year to get it outside before it buds ... We kind-of skipped from three feet of snow on the ground to Summer this year. (Was so glad that I wrapped the bushes in the ground with burlap to protect them.)

I thinks its possible to save it. Never give up just try a different method. I have used Dr Earth Acid Lovers as a base adding perlite, crushed pine bark and some peat since the bags I used to get were so wet and dense the roots couldnt breathe. My blueberries have thrived and multiplied in that combo mix and have been very productive. The high bush have doubled in size and the low bush have spread from 8inches to 32in and will be divided next month. Even my dwarf TopHat is bursting with berries now. I found that air and drainage along with acid are the key to helping plants recover. Holes on sides and bottom of planters for more air flow, a mulch of pine bark or pine straw (rip needles off pine boughs) to protect the roots that are close to surface and protect from cold and freeze/thaw cycles in winter and spring. Even though Dr E was acid lovers I still put a bit of soil acidifier in ensure the long term acidity wasnt changed. Usually yellow is chlorosis which means the acid level is not low enough for the plant to get the nutrients from the soil, they are still locked up. You may also have to add some iron when you put in more acid or use acid fertilizer. Some nurseries sell a plant spike called ironite. It wont take long to see improvement in the new growth since its summer. Use rain water when you can or Miracid. Some use vinegar but I dont now the amounts and ratio.
