Chiflipper is right. Repairs first, then cosmetics. Easy and inexpensive to fix the railing(s). As for the stairs, I would go in this direction for cosmetic changes or really gray treads and white risers.

It's a cute house and the hardscape is nice. I'd plant some flowering plants in your gravel by the path. As for the collection of shrubbery to the left of the door, I can't tell what it is. It looks kind of crowded and overgrown. Figure out what you like, whether the overgrown stuff can be pruned and go from there. If you replace the lawn to the left of the path with driveway, the driveway will overwhelm your house.

What is the most used approach to the house and put the walk there, and light it. Doors with oval insets have always been popular on houses like yours. If you like it, keep it. If not, you are not being ahistoric. A lot of these houses were built and sold with an oval inset door on them. Is that your house address over the porch entry steps? If the town allows, put your house number prominently at the end of your driveway instead for safety.
