Just found this thread and wanted to throw in my experience with a 48" built in Samsung, side-by-side refrigerator with water/ice dispenser. We bought it a year ago and had problems with the water/ice dispenser "sticking" right from the beginning which would cause the water/ice to keep dispensing after you moved the cup away. We had it serviced under warranty and it fixed the problem, for about 6 months until is started doing it again. After about 8 months we noticed water leaking out from under the front doors at the hinges. To make a long story short, 4 months, 5 service appointments and many, many calls to Samsung later without any resolution to the water leaking, we were told the refrigerator can't be repaired and have been offered a refund. It's been a very frustrating experience, and a refund certainly won't cover the cost of taking out and disposing of the old fridge and installing a new one. I have always been a loyal Samsung customer, I just don't think they made a very good built-in refrigerator.

Not the OP but I'm still on here and a lot of water has gone under the bridge. I had the Wolf DF for about 4.5 years and the cobalt blue enamel came off of the bottom after running the self clean. This has been an issue, if you look at the lawsuits on these ranges built as far back as 2006. Quite a few posters had issues of chipping with as many a three ovens in a row. The all gas versions do not seem to have the issue (no blue interior) although they are mentioned in at least one lawsuit. I like Dacor platforms that were bigger too but the ovens I had were worthless. Mine were with the Discovery controllers at the time, different from some of the other ovens. They have since been bought by Samsung and been through model changes through the years. I though maybe they fixed them but there was recently a poster here that bought a wall oven and returned it quickly because they had issues with it. What type of cooking do you do? The Ilve has a few things that might cause concern for some people. The burners are all underpowered for what most people want now. Ranges like BlueStar and Capital have 22-25K on at least two burners. The Wolf all gas also tops out at 15K and you may have had 15 or 16K on your Dacor range So maybe that works for you. I have 15K on my Wolf DF and it is OK but it is on all burners except one. Many people complain that a griddle with 15K is underpowered so 10.5K would be even less. They also mention that the griddle is stainless so it will not season like rolled steel on Wolf. Stainless by itself is one of the poorest conductors of heat so would heat unevenly unless it has aluminum or copper sandwiched in. The French top is also only 8.5K BTUs compared to 18K on something like BlueStar. Also check out the oven size. Look at the usable rack size. A lot of space is taken up by the warming drawer. Look at the broiler size. This is the manual. Hi 39york. It's not that panelled fridges are out of style, they are actually very in style. It's that the panelling on a fridge which is not "integrated" is out of style right now. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't get it; it just means that you won't see as much paneled fridges that are not also "integrated" fridges. And as you've noted, those integrated-fridges like Subzeros are expensive, and the "fully integrated" fridges even more so. An integrated fridge means it's completely flush with the cabinetry, though you will still see a toe kick or and the panels will not be seamless from the cabinetry. A fully-integrated fridge is completely seamless, and you cannot tell there is a refrigerator behind the panels. I will link a thread below with pics so you can see what I mean. A less expensive option to an integrated fridge is simply to apply panels on a "panel-ready" fridge, which is I think what your OP is about. Some people do not prefer this because you can still see the fridge's trim, the fridge handles, and the water dispenser if there is one. So given the expense of the panels, and that nothing is being hidden or integrated with the cabinetry, people think it may not be worth the expense and the effort to panel a non-integrated fridge. A lot of people feel it's fine to have the fridge look like a fridge in the kitchen, or at least they prefer it to having panels plus the fridge trim showing. Others don't mind the fridge trim, like the look of panelling, and they don't want to deal with fingerprints on stainless steel. If you want to panel a non-integrated fridge, I recommend the Kitchenaid panel-ready fridges. They perform well, and while expensive, are not nearly the cost of Subzeros and Thermadors. I also wanted a 48" range for my kitchen, having never had one, I really looked for a Wolf or Viking at a discount...but found nothing I felt comfortable shelling out the money for. Even on Craigslist/ebay....found some, but still, IMO the deals were very risky due to no warranty or fall back if something went wrong. We did purchase a 48" kitchen aid range...granted I have never had a wolf or Viking.....but I absolutely LOVE my Kitchen aid range. We purchased it at Sears outlet/discount for about 60% less than retail (small scuff mark at bottom) and we did get an extended warranty. I love the way this range cooks!!! I love the convection oven and the fact that I have a smaller oven to cook in most days. I am not sure if you have ever had the higher end appliances, I have not and so this is a total upgrade for me and I have a peace of mind knowing I have a warranty. Also, we purchased the Sharp microwave, 24" I was able to get this for 70% below retail from Sears outlet also (not sure what was wrong with it, it was still in original packaging) ...we love it.!!!..total space saver and my DH who is 6'4" can even use it with ease. The controls tilt up so NO bending over to use it. I highly recommend getting the Sharp microwave, everyone who comes into our kitchen raves about it! Also, don't rule of 48" kitchen aid range, you can find some good deals.
