helppp! need exterior paint suggestions

We have such a non conventional house so I’m having a hard time finding ideas online. Painter coming soon so need to get paint colours as soon as possible.

House is wood and the bottom part is I guess cement? We’re thinking of doing a dark grey with black trims and shutters (have a new black garage door). But having such a hard time narrowing down the exact grey because there are so many undertones which I don’t love I just want it to be grey, and some are too light and some are too dark grr. Please help!

Also the deck we are painting but have no clue what colour, one side is wood and the other composite. Needs to be more uniformed so do we paint it same colour as the house?

Any help would be so appreciated!

First off, I don’t think you can paint composite decking, so that will drive all other color choices.

Below is a picture of a house plan our son just built, but he used all shingles instead. It’s West Coast contemporary and it looks lovely. Our house is similar. Is it the combination of batten-board w/shingles that you all disagree with? Or is it that you feel shingles have no place on a more contemporary-looking house? All batten-board would look better? From the pics that you posted, the only thing that really looks white is your garage door. Unless the whole house is in need of a paint job, I would paint the fascia a darker color. That may be enough to change the whole look of the house.

I’d match the garage doors to the siding or stonework. Why make a feature of something so large & utilitarian? Their size would dominate & draw the eye away from the front door, which for me, should be the key point of focus. 🌈

Sage greens would be one choice nice with your roof color, or at least how it appears in your first photo. Soft white for the trim. Something like this Saybrook Sage (from Ben Moore) might be an option.

Why not re-stain the wood - same rich coffee color as in your #2 pic. Wood has a richness and depth to it that you cant get from a plastic solid color paint film and since its already not painted its not as if any extra effort would be needed - just need to find someone who has exterior wood staining as part of their repertoire. You could switch it to a charcoal gray wood stain and then re-do your deck/railings to better harmonize....

Dark gray with black trim strikes me as dreary. You need to remove the shutters, they look odd. This looks like a 60s house. Rich brown stain would be a great color. Cream trim.
