Why is Lemon-Lime Philodendron so difficult to find?
Comments (3)When I googled this name, I got pics of a bunch of different plants, various Philo species and some Epipremnum. What plant exactly are you after? Philodendron 'Brasil' is popular and readily available lately. Maybe that appeals to you?...See MoreWhy is giving away seeds so difficult
Comments (12)This may be a minor issue for some traders, but better IDs (scientific names for more exact specification) might help. "Quince" for instance could be one of the species in the Chaenomeles genus, Pseudocydonia sinensis, or maybe even Aegle marmelos. Also, some plants don't come true from seed. So seed from Lagerstroemia indica 'Whit VII' (Siren Red Crape Myrtle) do not produce Siren Red Crape Myrtles! They are simply plain Lagerstroemia indica. If the seeds are from a real Siren Red Crape, as opposed to a seedling you grew, then you could mention that the seeds came from Siren Red (but they wouldn't be Siren Red). Whether or not these types of issues really make a lot of difference when it comes to your average GardenWeb seed trader, I don't know. I've offered things that were semi-rare before, that I expected people to want, and got zero interest. I've also posted stuff that was so common you could probably just go out in the yard and grab some anywhere, and people wanted it. Sometimes these things just aren't meant for us to understand. And, BTW, I don't know the specifics regarding the lady that wanted to specify how you'd send the seeds, but, if it was in regards to packaging, seeds that are not protected during shipment are frequently a complete loss. IF that was the request, I don't really blame her (depending on how she asked of course). I would have no interest in getting seeds mailed to me in a plain envelope, even if they were seeds I had been looking for for a long time....See MoreWhy is choosing tile so difficult?
Comments (17)I think tile is the equivalent to 'My Precious'! Which is why we want it to be just right! Not an issue for most, but those of us who frequent GW Bath Forum are a special bunch! :>) Surprisingly, even the tile places don't seem to get it, I think they just want you to make a choice, pay for it, and get out of there! It took me close to 4 years before I found the perfect BS for my kitchen, so I wasn't surprised at how long it took to pick a tile for the BR. I thought I had it all chosen, I was wafflng between two 12" square slate look porcelain tiles for the floor and a quilted white large rectangle (can't remember if it was 12 X 24 or smaller) for the shower walls, and ended up with 12 X 24 limestone looking porcelain tiles for both BR floor and shower walls! I love my tile (see it everyday piled up on the floor in my Main bath, still not installed...sigh). I am SO confident that it is the right choice, just had this nagging feeling in my gut that I wasn't 100% certain of my first one. My advice is to keep going, once you find something you love, be sure to bring home at least 5 tiles (if they are stone or stone replica) so that you can see the colour and pattern variance. My first limestone looking tile had NO variance what so ever! If I had ordered it without seeing 5 samples I would have been SO disappointed!...See MoreWhy is everything so blasted difficult??
Comments (10)(((( Anglophilia )))) I feel your pain. This man was supposed to order a "heavy duty" swivel to replace broken one. DH likes this chair so I wanted a swivel rated for at least 300 lbs. He said he had ordered it. Weeks later he told me it had arrived. Weeks after that he told me "I have several of those in the back to use; I save them from unfixable chairs." I have no idea if this an extra strong swivel or not, new or not. I don't mind recycled at all; if it were really old it would probably be better quality of any new swivel. "Clean" and "strong" does concern me. I called once to see if the special order fabric had come in. "Oh yes." All boils down to - I know it's my fault for not making the long drive (45+ minutes each direction) out there every few days to watch every step of the progress. I know this is also my fault...I assumed (Yep!) "new cushions" meant he would put new, high quality foam and batting in all three cushions (chair seat and back, and foot stool cushion.) Nope! He "steamed them" and "they plump right up. I filled them out with new batting." The seat cushion has a zipper. I opened it. Old foam, no batting. The back and footrest cushions do not have zippers so I can't peek in them. The old seat cushion had ties to keep it in place and tucked under the lower edge of the back cushion. No ties on the new seat. I am so sad about the chair, the tiny awkward room, the huge window, the mish-mash of broken down, brown furniture, and this house. Just thinking about it all makes me wish I could break down. The saddest part is we have money to furnish it pleasantly with mid-quality items. He has money for week-long fishing trips to Alaska and the elk trips to Idaho, Montana, Washington etc. but for two matching chairs? Oh well, TMI, I'm going back under my cloud and taking his things to the dry cleaner (45 minutes one way) and looking at some furniture. I can look!...See Moreeam44
