does anyone know anything about Snapping turtles?
Comments (18)I remember when we were younger in Texas. We watched a big ole turtle walkin down the road towards Zeboes park. We walked along side it till it got to the main road then my twin sister and I each grabbed a side of the turtle's shell and picked it up. It just relaxed and enjoyed the ride. We heard a hissing when we first went to pick it up but after that it didn't make any noises at all. It was relaxed and non agressive at all. I suppose that is when I first fell in love with turtles. I have encountered a few agressive turtles but not many. I am very cautious of COOTERS tho. I am curious if that is a nickname for a certain type of turtle that is indigenous to South Carolina or if it is a real type of turtle? I guess I will just google it. I am not at all fond of water birds. Our experiences with water fowl has been more problematic than anything else. I have had ducks and geese chase and attack our daughters when they were toddlers. They would chase my daughters and take their bottles and any food they may have had in their hands or mouths. They have attacked my chihuahuas and my cats. I have seen small birds dive bomb my cats. Tho I must admit, it is quite comical to watch. Those little birds do damage to my four legged friends. I can't stand the bird droppings all over everything. Turtles are good. I could not imagine eating anything soooooooooo cute....See MoreDoes anyone know anything about Chatham Furniture?
Comments (4)Sorry, here is the live link--I need to learn how to use this website. I know it is sort of a long shot that people know much about Chatham--I tried doing a search but not much popped up. The company looks good, but if anyone has bought one of their peices I would appreciate hearing your story :). Sort of a long shot, but thought I would try. Normally I would never buy furniture online, but it is getting really hard to find furniture in light wood tones. We have a beautiful diningroom set (with china hutch and side board) from Ethan Allen's Swedish Home collection that is a light-golden natural maple tone. That room flows into our livingroom, which we have a substantial Stanley desk that is also a light wood, as well as a new Thomasville television console (Attache collection) in light wood. We are replacing the coffee table and side table in that same room, so we need it to be in the same light wood family. Thomasville no longer sells the Attache collection, but I didn't really like the style of the coffee table anyway. I know that you can mix wood tones, but we also *like* lighter wood tones for our house. We have hardwood floors throughout the house that are a beautiful light honey color (wide plank). We also vaulted the ceiling when we moved in and covered it with Alaskan cedar, which is a beautiful blonde tone much like our hardwood floor. This is a California ranch house in the Bay Area. So the light wood has worked for us, obviously--but now is VERY hard to find in furniture. I keep telling my husband in 5-8 years we will be right in style! We just ordered a new sectional couch and leather chair for the livingroom, and we wanted to replace the coffee table and side table, but were stuck as far as choices for our light wood tone. I found this Chatham furniture online, and it looks to be perfect for us. I love that I can display my seashells under the glass top. Thanks for reading! Take care. I have learned a lot from lurking here lately. Lisa Here is a link that might be useful: Chatham Cocktail Table...See MoreLOOKING for: Does anyone know anything about this cookbook?
Comments (11)I think they also have a forum for discussion of the rules, Teresa. ;~) Not trying to be rude, just making a point. That said, I do agree that the OP probably is connected somehow to the link she provided, all the clues point to that. But maybe not. Someone who just joined has probably been lurking for awhile and while some people do introduce themselves, a lot of people don't. I followed the link, though, and found the site particularly annoying in that it tries to make it hard to exit from the site. And I also agree that Cooks.com and many other cooking sites offer copycat recipes just for the price of a little time to search. Liza, if your request is legitimate, and if the book is legitimate, it would probably be for sale on book-selling sites such as Amazon.com. And no, I don't have any connections to them, and I've been a GardenWeb member a long time. I don't post here very often, but I do come to read from time to time, both here and on the Cooking forum. And Ginger you are right that they do post recipes and ask for recipes over there too. Often. Attached is a link to a search I made. I like that people who have purchased the books provide their opinions of them. They offer new AND used books of all kinds, and I've gotten some really nice used books quite reasonably priced from this site. Often I have been all enthusiastic about a book I've heard about only to find out that people who bought the book thought it was a waste of money. Comments (21)Looks as though you have gotten some good advice so far but thought I would add my 2 cents. I am currently employed as a Medical Transcriptionist and thankful I only have about a year to go before I can retire. I have been a transcriptionist for approximately 33 years and have seen the profession slowly disintegrate. Our hospital started out with 10 full time employees, now we are 3 FT with 2 PT. Last week, we didn't have enough work for everyone so us 3 FT employees took a day off so the 2 part time could get their hours in (we get PTO, they don't). Our hospital installed the voice recognition system about 2 to 3 years ago and it has been downhill for us since then. As people quit, they were not replaced. There are a few doctors that will refuse to use the system and a few that the system can not pick up well enough to transcribe but that's not enough to keep everyone busy. We are now known as editors since we basically listen and follow along with the report, correct errors, etc, and not transcriptionist since we don't transcribe very much now. There are coder jobs that can be done at home as we have coders doing this and so far their positions are safe, I think we have about 10 of those still. This would be a safer position if you think this is something you would like. Hope I have helped in your decision. Lizzann...See MoreBeth H. :
