And I will agree with jrueter and kristine2009- I have Delta and love it. I replaced my kitchen faucet with the Delta Saxony which I feel like I get a commission from recommending it so much but really its a good one and might even satisfy your style requirements. The faucets we are replacing all happen to be low grade builders models from when we built the house 20 years ago and I think only one was replaced due to a leak (and we have 4 bathrooms, kitchen sink, laundry sink you get the idea)- all the others are still functioning fine - just time to update. I would most definitely buy Delta again and I hear comparable things about Moen which is what the bathroom contractor seems to prefer. Here is a link that might be useful: delta saxony

We used Rohl’s Perrin & Rowe lineup in our bathroom reno and couldn’t be happier. Exposed thermostatic shower system, sink faucet and tub filler for claw foot tub and a whole host of accessories. The quality is tangible. We had a minor issue with the diverter valve in the shower (it worked, but it didn’t feel smooth) which Vintage Tub & Bath replaced, no questions asked. Fortunately it was an easy fix on the exposed shower (a few unions). And Rohl’s polished nickel finish is exquisite Now were doing our kitchen and another bathroom and we keep going back to Rohl. We’ve found few options which tickle our fancy and the ones we have, (Lefroy Brooks, Graff, etc.) we’re unsure of the quality. Being a car guy, I like car analogies: A Lexus LS460 is in the same class and possesses most of the same features as a Mercedes S550, BMW 7-Series or Audi A8, and may even give you less problems than the German marques, but a Lexus will never have that same “carved from billet” feel.

I ended up here, because I'm redoing my kitchen and trying to make a decision about the faucet. I have various faucets throughout my house from Kohler, Moen, Restoration Hardware, and Newport Brass. I think the Restoration Hardware fixtures are made by Newport Brass, because we had to call them when we needed to replace. We've had them from 10-12 years, so I don't know the styles or even if they are made. Almost all are polished nickel, and the Kohler and Moen are always spotless, laundry room and bathroom, respectively. I'm not crazy about the pull down sprayer on the Kohler. The Moen Showcase (do they still make this line?) is in the bathroom, and I love it so much, because I can just pour water over it and it will dry spotless. It's amazing. It is wall mount, and I wish I had it in every bathroom. Because of my success with Moen, when I needed a faucet for my kitchen, I bought an inexpensive (relative to all the other faucets I have) Moen at Home Depot. It is the only non polished nickel faucet I have. It is stainless steel, still looks brand new (10 years+), and the pull down sprayer works wonderfully. Unfortunately, I'd never buy fixtures from Restoration Hardware again. They spot like crazy. The Newport Brass are slightly better, but they also spot. I'm looking at Kohler and Moen for my new kitchen, but the choices are limited in polished nickel. Now I'll look at California Faucets, too, but I'll skip Rohl, since someone mentioned the polished nickel spots so much.

I like the existing layout--the clean-up zone is outside of the prep triangle of fridge, sink, and cooktop. However, if that doesn't work for you, I think switching the fridge and ovens will be fine. You might want to reconsider replacing the cooktop and ovens with a range, since you are seniors, as wall ovens are easier to use without bending and lifting heavy pans. Extending the island seating overhang is a good idea; the NKBA recommends a minimum of 15" for comfort at counter height. Your other ideas seem very well-planned, also.
