Second floor washer drain pipe sticks out from the floor - concerning?

last year

I am having a washer and dryer delivered soon. They will be installed on the second floor. Since the washer drain pipe protrudes from the floor about 2 inches, will this be fine or should it be recessed? I recently purchased the home and this is the way it was done by a previous owner/investor. All the photos I've googled, show the floor drain pipe recessed, and most have a cover over them. How will the washer sit over it and not damage it since it's not recessed?

Another concern is the large opening around the pipe. Should it look like that? Do I need to have it fixed?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
