Do you think this edge pull is too small?

I want the look of vintage Subzero, which had a smaller pull mounted right at the perimeter of the door. (The freezers of the era also had a door with pull out bins)

The problem with the very squared pulls in our experience is scraped knuckles, and of course the catching of sleeves on a horizontal pull. So I thought this would give a look somewhere between the vintage, and the later large edge pull on the current "Classic" models. But we are probably going to do "Designer", mostly because of the slightly tighter door swing and width and drawers vs. bin.

I completely understand the irony of using a completely integrated fridge and making it look like a fridge.

This is the pull profile made by the same company as the edge banding. My concern is whether this lip is adequate, it's 3/4". It may be a little small.

That kitchen is Gorgeous. My engineer husband would suggest making a mock up using the 3/4 lip. You could use an old cabinet or drawer. See how it feels.

In our old place we had a Subzero with this pull. This was plenty but even this was a but hard on the knuckles. When we were talking about pulls with the cabinet maker he said he had just finished a kitchen and they had to make new door panels for the fridge because they could not get the fridge open without a larger handle.

This one may be an option if we go to an actual handle, since it is round on the top and has no overhang. Maybe we can mock these up on an unfinished panel.

I can't directly help you with your question, I can only tell you I have been on the same quest for edging recently. At about $2/ft it seems expensive. I have been trying to find a local dealer for Polyboard by Vally Industries with no luck but if you can get that in your area it appears to be worth a look. I would rather have something thicker than the knife edge stuff and better looking than the vinyl with the bulb top on it. I understand Trex makes edging but have not been able to find that either. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Hi Lass: what I thought for a minute won't work if the table is up with it's extensions and chairs and used a lot..My grandma had a large dining room and one wall had floor to ceiling glass panels with a door as one panel that opened and folded back for a good sized passage when needed..old brass framing and hinges etc on these panels..she also had drapes across them-there must have been some plaster wall at the top.....she would completely open/close drapes depending on activities.... Your passage from front hall could be an interesting place for some doors that open/close in a clever way....then if table would be left with leaves down or a smaller round table were placed, on left side as in "parlor table" effect..., you would clear almost half the room on fireplace side for a real seating venue ,facing fireplace wall ...making a focal point and .....maybe cost saving as the redo of your front windows wouldn't be needed .. But if the table serves as "office"-granted,that need is driving everything. I tend to think a fireplace wall is an incredible spot for focus and you are going to go big and spendy if redoing windows at the front and making another focus wall......seems like a duplication for the room in a way......just be sure....you can do a lot in there already with what you have, no doubt.

I think it's a fine line . Asking someone to move a chair in no way equates to saying that the chairs just aren't working. When she was only asking about a photo size. Mary never asked about the arrangement ~~ but it's not as if someone posted a bunch of pic's of chairs she should be using.

Window treatments can be such a pain to get right. Struggling to block the sun in my den as well so I feel your pain. :) Your curtains are beautiful. I'd have to see the whole room to form an opinion on the whole look but I can share my preference for length. I like them when they barely kiss the floor and that's because I find them a pain otherwise when I'm vacuuming. Not usually a fan of tied back curtains but YMMV. It's your home. Try it out and if you like how it looks and it works for you, do it.

My new (2016) subzero had a newfangled pull that I didn’t love, so the installers put our old one (1991) on the new door. I was surprised and thrilled that it fit. I think the shalowest depth is the most comfortable.

When it comes to appliances, for me, function trumps form. I never know which hand is free to open the door, so that style requires that I pre-plan, use the wrong hand/finger, change hands, or call for help. I’d rather have a handle I can use either hand/finger with.

I just felt my (not at all long) fingernails get pulled off my fingers. I have a paper cabinet with this style of pulls and if you don't get your fingers well-situated before you pull, you'll have sore digits for days.

Definitely mock it up. I think it will be insufficient. Those SZs don't mess around when it comes to a tight seal.

Will you ever use those handles with wet fingers or slippery fingers? if so and with the seal that a sub-zero has they may just slip off.

I like the second one that you posted with the rounded top.
