How to prevent IE from opening when I click a link
Comments (3)FYI. Some applications may be "hard-coded" to open Internet Explorer, no matter which browser is set as the default. Also, Internet service providers like PeoplePC Online, Juno and NetZero may provide connection software that automatically launches Internet Explorer. Comments (5)PS: I just read through the tick tips. Good link! This one made me laugh, but it will be very useful for my camping son and daughter-in-law: When camping, use a âÂÂtick dragâ to clear the area before you set up or sit down. This does not mean dressing up like Carmen Miranda to lure ticks with a soft spot for show tunes to their doom. A tick drag is a sheet of heavy white flannel with weights on one end and a handle for pulling. Drag it across grassy brush (or your lawn if you just canâÂÂt believe its not as tick infested as those Ortho ads insist) and most of the ticks in the area will hop on. Normally used to determine infestation levels, they temporarily reduce the number of ticks in the dragged area by an impressive 70%. Drop the ticks (or the entire drag) into soapy water to kill them....See MoreOld Bougainvillea Tipping over From Too Much Rain
Comments (7)Just wanted to report back. Last night it rained some more and the bougainvilleas were leaning even more to the ground. We started trimming and realized that because of all the branches that were crossing over each other we were going to have to prune more aggressively. We took most of the trunks to within 2-3 feet off the ground. It look pretty bare right now but I figure it will grow back pretty quickly and I can be more diligent with monthly pruning as it grows. I would like it to be more treelike so I will keep that shape in mind as it starts to grow. Thanks for your help!...See MoreHow do I prevent water from escaping the shower?
Comments (17)Good. Thanks, I can be dense. Googling it I found a lot of glass and some items with the word magic in the name... Not a good sell for me. We're redoing a tiny bathroom, 4x about 10 including the shower at one end. And it's a Jack and Jill and we actually need to keep both doors! 50's era with plenty of wear, so needs redoing. We hope to be able to grow old here, so redoing the shower w/o barrier. We'll use a shower curtain but concerned that even with the recommended 2" slope from floor to rain, water may get into the bathroom and out the door opening next to it that goes to the bedroom, where the flooring will not benefit from flooding. A family member already has been diagnosed w a progressive disease so we are very aware of the need to prepare. No way to get ADA in an old house, but basically adaptive sure....See Morewestes Zone 9b California SF Bay
