I have 30" Therm twins and I love them. They are well laid out- I took the contents of a 42" monogram and a profile side by side and loaded up the new units with a ton of room to spare. They are very quiet when running, very very quiet. The only sound that you hear over normal background noise is the ice maker filling up (the water hookup is right in front). It only happens on occasion and is not very loud so it is not a big deal. The temp seems to be very stabile. I also like the way it is laid out with the compressor on the bottom. It allows for a completely integrated look, it looks like a bureau, not a fridge/freezer. By having the compressor on the bottom it also raises the shelves so I don't have to bend down so far to get something out. The shelves roll out very smooth and feel quite strong. The only small downside is it takes a little time to make ice. It's not bad, but my old Sub Z seemed faster. The bucket does hold a lot of ice though. It's hard to say I'm disappointed in the ice speed when it could just be a perception problem. It is filling such a large bucket it might just appear to take longer. For super bowl I filled up 4 one gallon zip lock bags with ice! All in all I am very happy with them and would recommend them in a second!

I haven't compared recently (last 6 months, which is a goodly time), but I think SZ is the only one that specifically has an air filter. Liebherr and Miele reputedly also keep food fresher longer, but have different strategies to get there. But then, even before the air filter SZ had a reputation for keeping food fresh longer. OTOH, food lasts way longer than it should in my old broken down Kenmore that I've had since 1986. It's not level, the light hasn't worked for at least a decade (it's not the bulb), it sometimes freezes the top shelf, the case has bits busted off of it, and the shelf over the drawers is broken so they all sit on the bottom of the case. I would have gotten a new fridge a long time ago but I knew I was going to remodel and get built in. And food keeps well in it, even though it's a wreck.

I'm looking at SZ 48 inch side by side vs. thermador columns vs Miele columns. I'm very sure that I want to spend the money on one of these fridges and all the bids we are getting show the prices to be about the same, give or take 1K. My question is this: aside from the aesthetics of the interior (thermador and Miele both much nicer), what advantage is SZ over the others. I am getting dual compressors in each of those brands since i would be doing columns. I have read the "is sub-zero worth it" post and found it very helpful btw. Is the air filter that worth it in SZ? Do the Thermador and Miele have air filters and keep produce as fresh as SZ owners say theirs is ? The Miele rep didn't tell me about drawer filters but she said the produce stays very fresh in the bins because they are temp/humidity controlled. She didn't give me much detail on that. Thanks!

I looked at getting the Sub-Zero refrigerator drawers. After going to the Sub-Zero showroom I ended up ordering a 24” built in Sub-Zero under counter refrigerator. More space and less money. The drawers are cool but really don’t hold much.
