Round dining tables

Decorating a southern home in South Carolina (painted all white with dark brown floors) and looking for a beautiful round table to seat 6-8. Have you found any pretty ones? Thank you for ideas!

What do you mean by pretty ? What is your style ? Your idea books are not very helpful.

For 6-8 you will need a 60" round table, but the final number of chairs will depend on the size of the chairs you have. I have a 60" round table in my breakfast area with large chairs. It fits 6 of the large chairs comfortable and I can squeeze in a 7th if we have a large group and need extra seating.

What style table?

My table is from Theodore Alexander. Good quality and has been very durable with kids.

What size round dining table?

I did some measuring and with a comfortable padded chairs and someone seated, that is 2 feet. You can get away with 2 feet behind the person, I know 3 is recommended, but 2 is doable, so that leaves 3 feet for the table which is small. I would carefully measure the chairs you want and see if you could get away with a 48" table. A lot depends on doorways, openings etc. And personally, I would rather have the biggest table I could and squeeze by.

Thank you so much for the suggestion. I currently have a rectangular table that is positioned lengthwise toward the shortest part of the dining room 7’ and width wise toward the longer part of the dining room 9’. The room is awkward because of the sliding door on one side and the kitchen counter on the other.

Bumping into that cabinet al the time is the worst! It's not the table for you! You'll find another that is! You won't believe what we did.....I asked my husband, who likes to execute my schemes if he could take a regular antique China cabinet and make it 10 inches deep. 10 inches! He did it. Then I bought an antique table with pull out extensions which is narrower than the average table (it took me 2 years to find it). Total cost of a chair that expands to seat 10 and my China cabinet, $700. I know 10 inches is insane but all I really cared about was my teacups. It all feels so spacious and luxurious now. Just wait. You'll find the right table.
