Name That Plant!

I think this was labeled wrong

I got this yesterday and figured it was mis-named because Milky Way Aspidistra had spots not streaks. It would probably be difficult to give the correct name because there are several streaked ones but I don't want to name him Milky Way if he is for sure not Milky Way. What do you all think? There are all types of variations of streaking on the leaves--a lot, a little and none at all on leaves coming out of the same plantlet. There are about 6 individual plants in the pot and the nursery lady said it was left over from last year.

I agree, not 'Milky Way'. It also looks as if it's trying to revert to solid green. You'll need to watch it to make sure the solid green leaves don't become dominant.

There are many striped aspidistras, with the main differences being the width of the stripe, and abundance of striping. Some of the differences are VERY minor between cultivars. Tony Avent of Plant Delights nursery grows over 200 varieties, so he might be your best bet for an ID. The only email I could find for the nursery is sales@plantdelights.com. Tony is super, super busy, but he's a great guy, and will help if he can.

When we purchased the current house in 1996, it had the original GE builders grade dishwasher from 1985. It was very loud and didn't clean well, so we never used it. When the kitchen was remodeled in '06 we went with a new GE Profile dishwasher, as we also were buying a GE washer & dryer. That dishwasher only lasted us a year and was repaired several times (rolling racks and noisy water intake valve), but it cleaned fine. We replaced it with an Electrolux Wave-Touch, but only had it 60 days due to installation issues that could not be resolved, through it cleaned better than the GE. We were then without a dishwasher for about 2 years before we got a Miele Diamante Plus in 2009. In the two years that we've had the Miele, it has cleaned everything well. We don't pre-wash, but do rinse some dishes, pots/pans in the sink so piece of food would go in the garbage disposal, but we don't wash them with soap. On occasion, we will soak and hand-wash an item that may have heavy baked-on food, but that's like once or twice a week. Regardless, on the Miele we use the Normal mode or the Pots & Pans mode and everything comes out clean. Only use the China/Chrystal mode two or three times a year. The Express mode we don't use, since it only washes for 5 minutes and then does two 5 minute rinses (we found this 5 minute wash is not long enough to clean a full load). I check the bottom filter once a week and clean it out, but it hardly ever has anything in it.

I don't know which mine is, and I call her 'Marie' ;) I'm glad yours made it! Mine has been treated so badly, but I did transplant her this spring so I don't forget about the poor thing anymore. She's tough! Mine got hidden in Bermuda grass in a very small garden area I didn't expand after I put her in. Oops. Now she's in a real bed and much happier, lol.

The green fence was to keep rabbits out of my raised garden but it actually helped the vine grow out of the garden and start moving across my area of Ice plant. I thought I had bought regular pumpkin seeds but when it started getting big i went back and look at the seed packet. It read Atlantic Giant. My neighbors love seeing get bigger and bigger and keep laughing.

I looked at A. Elatior Variegata and it has all different amounts of variegation with some green leaves. https://smartgardenguide.com/cast-iron-plant-care/ I think this is what I have. I looked at Plant delights...plant candy...except for the prices. It;s a good thing we don't live near there.

The number of aspidistra on display at Tony's Juniper Level Botanic Garden (a non-profit, founded by Tony, and associated with but not financially connected to Plant Delights) is amazing, many more than Tony sells on the website. If you think you've seen "plant candy", there's a junk food-junky's-worth yet to view, lol. I *think* he has the largest aspidistra collection in the US. Some are so rare they aren't grown in the open ground, but only in the greenhouses. If you love rare and esoteric plants, it's worth the trip, trust me. It's the east coast version (as close as we'll ever get) to Heronswood (oh, how I miss it).

looks like the variegated lily of the valley i keep walking by .. but i dont know if it has that crown appearance.. i presume it doesnt.. and im way off base.. so you wonder why i dont get up and go look. or just delete this.. but.. what the heck .. im too lazy to walk outside right now ... maybe later.. lol..

It is a Aspidistra. That has never been in question. I have one which looks just like this but I’ve never known it anything other than ‘that variegated Aspidistra.‘

Floral, does yours have all green leaves in the 'clump' of each plantlet? Will all leaves turn green eventually or just stay varying amounts of stripes and none stripes?
