Which coffee table?

Hi All - Please help! I need suggestions for a coffee table to go with this layout. I’ve recently furnished my living room and the only missing piece is the coffee table. I’m open to creative ideas, and will consider all types of table (with/without storage, wood, marble…etc but preferably not one with a glass top as I have a dog who likes to lick glass surfaces😆

Great looking room! Love that rug.

What is your budget? Are you in the US? I‘m wondering if an ottoman might work better in there … or are you needing a table for drinks and such? If so, are you thinking it will be for one of the sofas, or more in the middle of the room? Just wondering how it needs to function.

I don’t have a budget in mind but willing to spend if I find something I like. I’m looking for a table that is functional which would ideally sit between the two sofas. It will be used for drinks and entertainment purposes.

Wow, my head is spinning! So many great ideas here. Les, you have such an eye. I've always liked the look of two small cocktail tables; in fact that is what we had in our LR when I grew up and my sister and I used to spend hours coloring and doing homework on them. Those would be fab, but out of my price range at the moment. If I see something similar on CL, the flea market, etc., Lord knows what could happen :) kswl, once again, great minds think alike. I have considered doing pillows, because I know the needlepoint is quite old and has already started fraying in some places, but I guess I'm just not ready to tear into the chair yet. I also can't quite visualize what the chair would look like with "regular" upholstery. Maybe it's because I've been looking at the chair this way for so long. I've seen settees redone and they look lovely, so I'm sure I could find something when the time comes. I have redone the back of the chair already and want to redo it again; it has a jewel tone plaid on it that worked with my old color scheme but not with this one. I think I'm just going to replace it with black; maybe leather, as I know many chairs in that era were done in leather. The back was originally done in a black fabric made to look like it had been stitched, but it was literally falling apart. So the chair will no doubt continue to evolve at some point. Loribee, You have a great idea, but the chinoiserie table is really too big to sit next to the CL chair. But I do have an idea; I think it can go next to the couch, and the bookshelf that is sitting there now can move to where the table had been sitting; just up against a corner wall. I will post some pics later. I do love both tables, and I know they can both find a home in the room. Thanks again all, you have really made me love my LR again!

Which coffee table ottoman for this space?

Thanks, Les. This is a room that we will spend time in, so we will be watching TV and putting our feet up. I am planning to put a rug in there, and maybe rather than a coffee table ottoman, a coffee table would be better. We can always get a small ottoman to pull over from a side chair maybe if we want one. As far as pattern and color goes in the rug, I don't know how much more pattern I can go with since I already have the pattern in the pillows and am thinking of bringing in a side chair in the animal print. However, I may not use the animal print for anything more than a pillow. I don't know yet. I really need some help on finding a side chair for this room too, as well as tables but I guess that's too many questions for this one thread. Johnatemp, if I'm going to go with a coffee table, I think the one you chose is a nice one. I like the color of the wood with the artwork and the sofa I think. And it's not too contemporary looking.

Thanks! The wood coffee table comes in two sizes -54 and 48. We have been down there every night with the fireplace on sprawled out on the sectional watching Black Sails - even if you don’t like my room, I highly recommend the series!! Get through season 1 and season 2 really hooks you!!

They all look great, am thinking something lighter in colour like white and perhaps squarish or rectangular in shape, would need to at least be 110cm L x 80cm W x 39cm H

Curious where they’re sold, I’ve never seen them. Be careful of drop-shipping companies.

Max, I’m concerned about whomever is selling these tables. The round one seemed familiar and I remembered seeing an authentic one on a vintage/antique site. It was $10,000 or more.

It’s the Rio Coffee Table designed by Charlotte Perriand (1962).

Anyway, just a heads-up, I think there are scam sites and drop-shipping sites using the same photo. I used to be in the furniture business, makes me sick to see how many are conned by these internet scammers.

It’s frustrating, I know. I’m so tired of these scammers. They create these websites and use images from other sites. They send defective/low-quality items and do everything possible to deter refunds. Or, don’t send anything, and keep the money. When enough complaints start coming in, they just close shop and open a new one.

Check their sites carefully … they never have a physical address or actual customer service number. Their ”About Us” always sound fake. Their domain registrations are always very new.

While you are contemplating coffee tables, would you consider moving the furniture around? Neither sofa gives you good viewing of the t v and you also have a lovely view outside to consider.

What if the t v went on the wall where the art is and that sofa replaces the t v/console?

I think it may be difficult to reach the coffee table to set a drink down without getting up. Can you scoot the sofas closer together?

I’ve tried swapping the position of tv and sofa, and also pushing the sofas closer together but it just didn’t work because of the space and having the kitchen door right next to the living room didn’t help at all

That round coffee table also jumped out to me as being perfect.........and then I was impressed and amazed at Jinx's knowledge. I have saved that scam-detector website and trust pilot.

What a shame, but at least you didn't order (and pay) from there!

Yes, Jinx, thanks for the leads. I'm very careful about ordering on-line, but I got scammed Christmas shopping. The good news is PayPal investigated and I got my money back.

I’m a lamp fanatic, but in this case I think a plant would look great there — would bring an organic feel in, soften the space, look nice with the background view.

What about a table lamp on the buffet and plant on floor?
