Just reading another post about a bad quartz install. Make sure that you sign off on the slab; make sure you are home when the fabricator team comes to cut the template. Veining is not going to align at seams unless you are clear on what you want. It looks like a small kitchen, see if you can get a seamless install.

just all white cabinets .you could choose a textural backslash in white or a colored backsplash. I'd put the interest there...not with colored cabinets. its just too closed in a space.

Without knowing the color scheme of the adoining room, I’d go with the same pale gray as your walls. Since there is no natural light in the kitchen, I would avoid dark and moody in that room. It would not be pleasant to have lights on all the time.

cabinets to match gray walls. the gray is not that atrractive to begin with and an entire kitchen in that would be grating. Its hard to understand why the wall color is a factor anyway. thats usually last and the easiest thing to alter......to work with the more expensive cabinetry choice. you cant select white painted cabinets? these are nice paint colors for an all over theme.....

My cabinets are being custom made so I will have them painted any color I chose after they are installed. We are just looking to specifically move on from the all white kitchen trend and step away from any more grey. We are not going for light, bright, and open, because as it has been pointed out, the space is clearly not light, bright, and open. That’s also just not my taste. We prefer some color, even subtle, in some way. So I’m looking for ways that I could create a moody effect without making the room…atrocious. Lol

I am not a designer but I love the idea of blue or green cabinets. One issue though is that you said you don’t want to accentuate your reddish floors. My understanding is that colors on the opposite side of the color wheel, like blue and green, would make the red floors stand out more?

get some inspiration pics . then interpret for your particular space. not everything is going to work there . I would really hesitate to immerse that space in a moderately intense "moody color" Your selection should be durable for the long term. Moods can be inserted in smaller ways. the first one works because its an open space with light walls and glass for the doors.. ...2nd one keeps counter and wall cabs in the lighter tone. a designer should assist you .

Yes I did think about that. A more green color would accentuate the red. But perhaps a blue or even green-blue and very muted. Something like a devol kitchen I was hoping. I’m aware I may just be dreaming. But the heart wants what it wants. Lol

You are right herbflavor! I have plenty of Inspiration and not enough “interpretation” for my space.

I like all of these colors. But struggling to translate to my space.

We are having reeded glass inserts in the upper cabinet doors to the right of the cooktop to help open the space.

I have a white kitchen and I am debating painting my island SW Riverway. My floors are Ipe and they are a red tone as well. Here are a few Riverway kitchens I had saved.

I left the pantry side the light color. I added a white and grey veined marble or ”marble-look” counter that you have planned. For the backsplash I just happened to pick a white or very light grey in a tiny herringbone pattern. I would keep it light and match the counter.

Of course you would have to see samples of the teal green color in your kitchen’s lighting. I brought home a gazillion little color chips before finding one I liked. My next step is to get an actual paint sample to try.

Like others have mentioned, because of the lack of windows, you may decide it is just too dark. Could you play around painting the cabinets you have since you plan to get new ones anyways?

Oh and check out the color just above riverway….Moody blue! Ha!

I think I remember some pros here saying that SW paint is not for cabinets. Your cabinet maker will know what kind is to be used for cabinets. I just thought it would give you an idea of how the colors would look.

Rebunky! Wow!! That is a great color and right in line with other colors I’ve had my eye on. That mock up is so awesome! How did you do that? It’s so helpful to see the lighter pantry wall against the darker color on the opposing sides. I think this scheme could work!
We plan to use same countertop slab for backsplash so both countertops and backsplash would be white.
And yes I have a million paint swatches that I have sampled in the space but after looking at so many and attempting to fine tune them at the paint store I started to lose vision of what actually works with the space. I’m trying to step back and have a solid direction before I attempt samples in the space again. I’ll check this one out. Thanks so much!

You’re welcome! I have an ipad app that lets me draw and layer colors or other images on top of photos. I have fun playing around with it.

Oh I am right there with you on taking a step back on the search for the perfect color. I was kinda obsessed for awhile. 😵‍💫

I just reread your OP, and you clearly said counters AND backsplash were going to be quartz. Duh! I think that will look very nice and clean. However, I understand now why judianna warned of the many posts here of nightmare installations of marble look quartz. So many where the veins do not line up, like not even close! Or sometimes the background color doesn’t match. The corner is notorious for ending up a disaster. Just make sure it is all in writing, detailing exactly how your slab will be cut and seamed together.

Recently someone was going to do white marble quartz, but ended up with a more subtle quartz called Smithfield due to availability. It looks really great. Her new kitchen is white, but she did do a similar moody green wall. Thanks so much for the heads up about the quartz! They won’t be installed until August so I will definitely have a conversation with my fabricator about all of those details when we select slabs.
