Working that night. My sister is having a party tommorow to celebrate and I just got back from her house because she asked me to make mac and cheese, olive bread, potato salad and Buffalo chicken dip for it, so i went to her house to make it all. I am not going to her party though because I have to work tommorow night too. There is usually a huge fireworks display and if I stand outside my office building I can see it. If they have it this year I'll watch for a while. I might watch 1776 if I remember.

We will be going to my brother’s camp on a lake. It’s been a tradition for decades. Always a crowd - could be 30 - could be 75 - and always a good time.

I expect my daughters and their families at the riverhouse. I used to do a lot of prep and cooking, but in the last several years I am more relaxed about it. There will be some local fireworks but nothing officially planned.

We have a double celebration on the 3rd. We are going to the lake and celebrate my grand's 8th birthday. Then in the evening we are going to the township's fireworks. Everyone sits on the soccer field at our township's sports complex. They have food, DJ, facepainting, games and give aways for the kids. Great fireworks. The 4th we will just hang out with the grands since their mother is working, maybe go to the splash park. Maybe then we will go to the RIDC park to watch the next township's over fireworks.

Nothing on the 4th itself, but my son who lives out of town is coming today and bringing my grandson for a couple days. They will leave around lunch time on Sunday and that afternoon I am going to a suprise 70th birthday party for my sister in law.

Not on the 4th. Parents' birthdays are this week. 80 and 82. I assume we'll cook out tomorrow. Child is working on the 4th. Steak, corn, au gratin potatoes, and peach ice cream. Pizza for daddy on the 9th. Probably see Mom this weekend (she's cared for in a nursing home).

There really isn't anything to celebrate on July 4th this year because at this point, we'd have been better off under British rule...

We’ve been added to a small party tradition at my sister’s friends’ house for a few years now. On the water in the Hamptons, fireworks shot off a few hundred feet away across an inlet. Always a nice time. I’ll probably (hopefully) be invited to go out tuna fishing that day by the husband. It’s a long day out on the water for limited return, but cruising many miles offshore as the sun starts to rise never gets old for me.

My daughter is starting her first job, at a touristy clothing shop in Southampton. They just asked her to work on Monday and I’d have let her say no (not her normal shift) but she’s anxious to make a good impression.

No plans. Local family is out of town and the fireworks show we used to enjoy in our little community was cancelled at the start of the pandemic and due to lack of funding, will not resume. Last year they banned all fireworks on the island but we are surrounded by tribal lands with everybody and their Uncle Harold selling them and setting them off. If I were to walk down to the end of my street, I could see the big Seattle display across the Sound but that starts late since it is not fully dark enough until 10:30 or so and I can't be bothered :-)

If the weather is decent, I'll work in the garden a bit and then grill something for dinner. And hopefully keep the new puppy from freaking out. The old man could care less! After he has had his dinner, he just snoozes. (lol!! so do I!!)

Staying home. It's been dry here so hopefully none of the neighbors will get silly with the fireworks.

I miss the old days too, when I was a kid. My mom would grill hot dogs, hamburgers and rice patties on the grill. All the neighborhood moms and kids would come over with side dishes Most dads were out-to-sea somewhere, including mine. Afterwards we would shoot off fireworks in the driveway. And not all night like they do now and not massive rockets, just sparklers and little fountain-types.

I'm dreading this year. Will have to get my earplugs out because I have a three day dayshift work weekend, starting tomorrow. May also have to use my noise machine again. I only got scheduled for 8 hours on Monday, though, and most people know the 4th of July is a holiday so only 500 or 600 should forget or have a health concern that can't wait. Juneteenth was horrible. We got, somewhere around 6000 calls. No way to even answer half those.

I did just go out and get some quick to make freezer meals. I had forgotten it was a Friday before the long holiday so Wal-Mart was packed. I went to the one in Frankfort, which I hate becuase it's always so grungy. Not so bad this time. They have new check out cubicles now that I liked. No more tiny little place to put all your food in bags. Now there are 4 or 5 bag holders and then a good sized area below that for the bagged stuff to sit. Almost all the regular check out lines were gone. I think they had one or two left.

DH and I will have hot dogs, onion relish and corn. We are uxpectantly still in Florida. We usually would get together with another couple. We had a tradition of celebration all the off holidays together.

But....they will be moving across country :( in a few weeks.

We stopped going to fireworks when our daughters were old enough to make their own plans.

No frills, Cheese Burgers on the grill here with fresh picked Ambrosia Corn-on-the-Cob for supper, also with homegrown tomato & cuke salads.

None...just had a 4 hour molar extraction! Dentist had to take it out in pieces instead of simple extraction! Those roots wanted to stay another 80 years!

This may sound strange, but the Fourth of July is the one holiday when I feel the loneliest. I've always lived alone, never married, no kids, can honestly say I don't get lonely hardly ever except for FOJ. Can't explain it.

I do miss going to the fireworks with family and friends. As someone else mentioned, they all live their own busy lives now.

We're just hanging out at home. Will probably cook out some over the weekend, and maybe go to the festival in town for a little bit. My town doesn't do fireworks anymore. Tragically, a firefighter was killed moving some improperly stored fireworks for the city a few years ago and it was immediately cancelled ongoing.

Cookout Sunday with friends and then Sunday with our kids, dd[s boyfriend and Granddaughter.

Schoolhouse, you need to join a group and find some people to go hang out with. Or maybe get a side gig or part time job where you can be out and interacting with people. We have a local shopping center that has a display. There are vendors everywhere. People wear their red, white and blue and all of the crazy accesories. I enjoy it. Dh not so much. The 4th has never been his thing. I enjoy just going around and people watching. We have a sick dog and have to go out of town twice this week so we're laying low. Otherwise, I'd go buy the most fun outfit I could find and join the crowd.

Today is the holiday for us - Canada Day. Works out best to have our daughters,their SO's, 2 nephews and nephew's girlfriend on Sunday the 3rd, so that's what we'll do. Pulled pork, buns, a couple of salads and some corn, hopefully enjoyed on the deck, weather permitting. Strawberry shortcake for dessert as local strawberies are available now. Looking forward to it.

I have nothing planned - we did out BBQ last week-end and still have some leftovers, although I have frozen some of them.

I'm going back to Cathedral City on July 6 to take care of some issues there, and I hope the kitchen cabinets will be ready to install while I am there, but I don't have a definite date for those yet.

We have a lot more planned for Labor Day week-end, since our niece and her husband will be visiting us then. She told Kevin that they want to go on the tram up Mt San Jacinto, which I guess is good for tourists, but I have agreed to go along as well. I did not go with my sister and BIL when they visited us in August 2019, mainly because I thought $30 was too much for the ticket. It's nice to go in August, however, as it will not be cold at the top. It is too early to reserve tickets for the tram in late August, but Kevin told me that they have limited reservations so that the tram will not be crowded. I told him that I would not want to ride the tram with a crowd, but it does have open windows.

phoggie, I hope your dentist did a good job and you recover quickly. I had a back molar removed by an oral surgeon a few years ago, also one needing to be taken out in pieces. I think even with the time waiting for the area to get numb, it took less than 40 minutes.
