Help!: Tile floor sticks up higher than surrounding wood floor
Comments (15)You're in a difficult position there. Any thin profile hard surface flooring will require a smooth and flat substrate onto which to install the flooring by whatever chosen method. Were you to remove the ceramic floor and everything down to the subflooring, you would then have to install a proper thickness second layer of wood in panel form (think plywood) to create that smooth and flat substrate. Cabot and Rowe has suggested a way to get the results you want. Any experienced ceramic tile installer ought to be able to know how to get the 'almost' flush result you want. I will caution you to notice, however, that should you choose to redo the job for a flush result, any door trim that was cut to accommodate the ceramic flooring under will be short of the finished height and will need to be replaced....See MoreHELP!
