Some FFE's and Improved Blooms

Now that we're a couple of day's removed from the hundred-degree temperatures, some daylilies are starting to look better. I'm waiting to see if Houzz ever posts my lost seedling thread. If it doesn't show up by tomorrow, I'll reconstruct and post it.

I'll start with the FFE's:

Breathing in Snowflakes ffe - The color is probably a bit lighter than it should be.

Isabelle Rose ffe - Just one flower of this doesn't impress me. But I was wowed by the clump in the garden where this plant originated.

Fuchsia Sunrise

Pink Extraordinaire X S. Samantha #2 had its best edge so far.

Razor Sharp X SC Night Vision #1 has looked good every day this week, and its held on to the only pod I've set on it.

I'm glad your flowers are doing better. After constance watering and a cooler night, our look pretty good today too.

I like the subtle color of Breathing in Snowflakes. I have heard a lot of good things about Isabelle Rose, but I haven't seen it in person. I also like Maney Augustine.

All of your seedlings are very pretty, but I like the two darker colored ones the best. I hope those seeds on the second one make it to maturity. It should give you some pretty seedlings.

Hope springs eternal I suppose!!! My hope for rain which I have not seen in two weeks is dwindling!! Breathing in Snowflakes is pretty-I have Breathing in Lilacs as a new plant in a pot but it will not bloom this year. Maney Augustine is always so pretty. The seedlings look good and I am usually partial to the pinks but those first two are really something!!

This is only the second flower for PC. I did post the first one which wasn't like this. The color and edge on the second flower are much better. This is also the first year for it and I hope it gets better. I got it at the ODS babysitting program. The information I got with it was that it was a slow grower plus the usual info. Well debra, Scarecrow spent it's first winter in the greenhouse in a pot so it isn't all its' fault. It has three scapes and is doing very well now and I love the bloom. I post the incredibly delicate Noel Weston every year. It is just as delicate as the photos show and I think it is a true beauty. I probably got it from Marietta's and can check if need be. It was very inexpensive, I do know that. Robed in Majesty is an /emerich, Sherry. Nancy, I love bold colors. so I like those bright ones too. But that being said, Isle of Patmos, another Emmerich is a gorgeous thing in a clump. I looked and there are plenty of scapes, so we should have a clump sooner or later. I think I have only four more new ones to bloom this year. Of course, since it is me, there will be a few (but only a few) next year. One of Polston's I can't wait to get and see...it is an odd color that I like, and I love the name..."I'll Get you My Pretty". Bwahaha!

Thank y'all for looking and commenting. I will try to get a close-up on Carolina Sugar Daddy tomorrow, Sherry. It is a nice edge. Pink Tarantula likes to show out., Kate. I am glad your Heavenly United We Stand has started blooming. It is such a tall one. And Holiday Ribbons makes me smile. Carolina Sugar Daddy is prettiest in a clump, and does have a nice edge to it Selman does well on edges many times. His Amethyst Ice has a lovely edge to it and I hope it will clump nicely. You see, as I told Kate, Holiday Ribbons makes me smile. It has not increased yet which is unusual since the other Ridley's I have. including Pink Tarantula have increased. Of course, some plants don't bloom at all for up to three years too. (longer than that they leave). kay

Kay: The garden pic is wonderful. A lots of color with the foliage looking so lush. What is the tall clump near the lower right of the photo? I think today my favorite is White Eyes Pink Dragon with Two And A Half Cats running second. Like mantis, we too are experiencing in the last couple of days cool temps overnight. I can't say the scapes are short but they are above the foliage, plenty of them on each planting here but it is a first season, newly planted so won't know till next year how they actually will do. Spring Mystique would not open fully two days ago with 49 degree overnight temps and today another bud is trying to open on it and we had overnight temps in the low 50's. I'm sure it will not open fully today again. Suppose to go to 90 this weekend. Glad I got the lawn mowed in the last 2 days. Yes, it takes me 2 days to do all the mowing and weedwacking done. I am glad your temps are down. we are supposed to be a bit less hot this next week and may have rain. Maney Augustine is really pretty. and, of course, I really like Red Venom. Patriots' Day is a lovely red, Pink Extraordinaire X S. Samantha #2 is really showy and Razor Sharp X SC Night Vision #1 is gorgeous. lovely delicate colored clump of Natalie Antoinette X Symphony of Praise too. Nice post, Debra.

Fuschia Sunrise is favorite registered daylily, I like the unusual color combo. The seelings or all lovely, my eye stopped at Natalie Antoinette seedling, I like the soft color and the little more delicate edge.

Glad to hear things are starting to improve. still hoping for rain this weekend.

Thanks all for your comments. I was particularly happy with those two purple seedlings today.

Sherry - Fuchsia Sunrise does have an unusual color combination that I also find pleasing.

Kay - The temps are down from 100 to 95 - cooler, but certainly not cool.

Nan, Kate and Kay - Maney Augustine is growing in a shadier part of the garden, and the blooms have pretty much kept their color. It always makes a showy clump.

Nan - I'm so glad to read your flowers are looking better too!

Sherry and Kay - Natalie Antoinette X Symphony of Praise does make a pretty clump. It did really well last year, with bud counts on some scapes from 17-21. This year, with that lack of rain, it only has 10-12 buds. I have two clumps of it now, and I do like the light pink color and its ruffling.

Fushia Sunrise is really calling to me. Stopped at 1st garden and saw Breathing in Snowflakes. Wonderful in your pictures, and looks just as great in person!

I too like the unusual color combo of Fuchsia Sunrise. I'm guessing you can see Patriot's Day a long way off. Such a nice bright red. The 2 purple seedlings are also very pretty.

Nancy - Are you at the national or regional convention? I'm glad Breathing In Snowflakes looked good in person.

Brad - You could see Patriot's Day a long way off - if it were taller. It's on very short scapes again this year. I think the grubs got to the roots.

The regional in Lexington. I have wanted to see the gardens here for years. Visited Daylily World on our own yesterday. I thought we were dry here, but I think they are

I'm always drawn to your Razor Sharp, so the seedling out of it is my favorite today. How blotchy is it for you? Looks clean to me.......................Maryl

Maryl - The Razor Sharp seedling has pretty clean blooms. If it rains overnight sometimes it can be splotchy.

You will love Isabelle Rose at maturity. Breathing in Snowflakes looks enticing, but even with its being a dormant, I am looking for northern confirmation. Dick got it a few years ago, but I don't think he follows this forum anymore.
