Design Dilemma Paint home office

Need help with wall color

We are remodeling our 10’x11’ guest room/office with Mohawk Beigewood laminate and a built-in desk unit of white hanging cabinets with a grey corner shelf and a desk with one grey file cabinet on the right and a straight end unit on the left, also grey. The desktop has a grey/white look.

My dilemma is the wall color. The room is small with very high walls. There is only one window, and it’s not very bright. Would SW 7661, Reflection, be a good choice?

Just show the whole room and there is no choice difference that I can see in the post.What is the first pic showing ? IMO the desk top is now going to rule everthing plaese get a simple wood look top and for sure wuth that floor no beige and where is the bed going in this small space and IMO a guest room is a poor place for an office unless you can put the office in the closet and close it up.

Yes, post a photo of the room.

Reflection is a lovely gray with a blue undertone. It will work with north light and south light.

If you need to turn on lights every time you walk into the room, one suggestion, do not paint the room white.

Why not just use Alabaster? If you want to go lighter than Accessible Beige, then you’re heading into whites anyway. I’m not sure I’d want to add another white to the mix with Dover and Alabaster. I’d pick one of them and I like the look of all one white for wall and trim. Aesthetic white is the shade lighter than Accessible Beige. Or you could choose Dover, but I think it’s nice to have some contrast with cabinets. Dover looks yellow against any white that isn’t a creamy yellow.

We do love earth tones. It’s figuring out how we can work with the window casings being the colour they are. We were thinking of painting the trim white and how to tie in the colour of the casings in the home.

the cabinets have a red undertone.. in other words its the cocoa brown rather than rust brown family you are in.....green undertone in off white or very light green would be complementary but if you have vetoed that I might try a very pale blue wall color. the counter reads decidedly gray in one photo in the other one there are some more off whites so the counter might determine this actually. Its hard to tell exactly without seeing everything in person. things like hardware/backsplash/metal details/ textiles[ mats] might lean things where they are determined by you . wall color can be played safe w a neutral off white when in doubt because warm beige will be more difficult than what you think...if you are leaning neutral I'd go with more simple off white.

am working on the remodeling of my kitchen and painted all in sw soft white . cabinets are white and island in a pretty dark cherry brown , perla venata countertops . it is open area next to dinning and connecting to living room. my dilemma is interior color for the connecting dinning and living room. currently have i graphy gray color from restoration hardware in the living room but need a color that can coordinate well with the new soft white kitchen which is visible from these rooms. should i continue with the soft white in the living room. and dinning ? my dilemma is i feel i need some color on these two connecting rooms. i have also a dark wood in the stair rail handle right next in the dinning . i have tried agreable gray and repose gray by sw they both look great on one side but the other side of the wall is too dark.

This room is our office and only used as an overflow bedroom with air mattress’s for the grandkids. The window faces east bit is very close to the neighbor’s house. We usually tuen on the light to work in it.

Have you looked at the floor sample next to the desktop? Online the floor looks like a warm color and the gray/white top looks cool, which would be a mismatch. SW Reflection is yet more gray. It's always hard for us to comment on colors since things look different IRL. It's your room, and if you are going to be spending a lot of time in there you're the one who needs to be happy with it. If those colors do work together I suggest you perk it up with at least one piece of art that will give your brain a rest. If you are energized by color you could paint the room a more assertive color or have an accent wall. Be sure about the the top and floor meshing, then go from there. You always choose a paint color last, and there is no substitute for sampling.

Thank you for your thoughts. We actually ended up changing the desktop to match it to the floor, and we did choose the color last, not grey.
