need help finishing my living room
Comments (29)What a fun thread! Great ideas everyone and I wish I knew photoshop. @liriodendron - I heard that suggestion too, and actually heeded it. I knew what I wanted as soon as I found the area rug: modern glamour from ethan allen! Sydmad - I would just be a little more cautious with adding too many different colors and go for a bit more texture and pattern, maybe? You have the blue on walls, white, grey sectional, black and as much as I can kind of feel where you want to take the room with gold/yellow it may just be too much - allovertheroad. Why not more grays? Silvers? With gold as an accent color? You really should try to stay in the blue/gray area of the color, in my opinion. Possibly big gold frames for pics/art, gold lamps, gold vases and perhaps a small gold foot stools under a sofa table? I think with all the good advice here, you will be put together a fabulous room. good luck!!!...See MorePlease Help Finishing my Living Room!!
Comments (7)Nice space! I would switch the end table to the other side of sofa to center the sofa. Pull the rug back &centered to sofa/tv console so sofa sits on rug-not tv console. Put floor lamp in corner where the end table is now. Plant where floor lamp is now. Glass/metal or acrylic coffee table. 2smaller chairs -possibly vintage to add some age in the room -reupholstered in a fun small print with the colors of your rug. Down filled pillows on sofa. Cream/white drapes on windows. I feel like the Buddha pic competes with the tv-maybe add it where the alcove by the stairs with chest/console underneath(where the tricycle is now) &I will add more storage. Maybe replace the big picture with a collection/gallery in a more square organic shape, rather than rectangle. Long runner in the kitchen-bringing the fuscia color over there. Picture below has many elements that I'm seeing--great pillows/clear coffee table, possibly a bench under the window, smaller chairs.......and I like the sheer Roman shades, as well....See MoreHelp finish living room
Comments (11)What a beautiful room! Great bones. It sounds as if you know what you want. My advice is take your time "finishing" this room. If you want symmetry on your walls, do it. There's no law that says you must. I find your current wall colour very pleasing but if you'd prefer a bright white, go for it. Drapes and wallpaper will offer the biggest visual bang for your buck (vertical surfaces usually do) so I'd take my time considering my options there. I don't know your room's dimensions but I'm having difficulty imagining adding a hutch or a secretary in that space. Even the end table with the lamp seems a tight fight on my screen. (Are end tables besides the sofa necessary? I could see one between the chairs.) I like a room to breathe and would even remove the table under your window. Love the artwork above your mantel but I'd be tempted to want space between the mantel and art to better showcase your beautiful mantel. Good luck. Again, take your time. With two little ones, life can get plenty busy and push decorating to the back burner. :)...See MoreNeed help finishing living room
Comments (0)We just moved and I'm having trouble finishing the living room. I think I need a rug but am unsure what area rug would not clash with the floral picture. My husband hates curtains but likes rugs. Does anyone have an ideas of how make this room look finished? PS: are the pillows ok or the wrong ones for this room? Photos in comments...See Moreshoozyq
