Reasonable price for to fix mouse infestation in attic?

Erica Sorohan
last year

The pest control service we work with regularly inspected our attic and reports a major mouse infestation. The remedy is extensive and includes removing all the insulation, cleaning and sanitizing the attic, sealing all entries, and installing all new insulation treated with boric acid. We’ve been quoted a price of $17 per square foot (for the highest quality insulation). For an attic our size, this is more than a $20K job. We live in the DC metro area, which admittedly is not an inexpensive place. Has anyone had any experience with this problem? What do you think of the cost estimate?
