I live in Georgia and we are trying to create privacy behind our house with a mix of trees/plants suggested by our landscaper. We noticed that the area does not really get sun - maybe some filtered sun. Has anyone had any success with the brackens brown magnolia in a more shaded area?

We are planting in front of the fence and the landscaper suggested a mix of things which is what we wanted, but the brackens brown magnolia as the main trees in the back. We do get some filtered sun, but I am now wondering if they will get too big or if they are easy to trim and keep the width you want.
