Paint Design Dilemma Exterior

Getting new roof and siding on brick ranch- please help with colors!

Earlier this year, a tree fell on our house damaging the roof and siding. The good news is that we are getting a new roof and all new siding from insurance. Our contractors are asking about colors of both and I am really not sure what would look best. My initial thought was to do a black roof and maybe have the siding color be a shade of gray or even similar to what was there?? The siding is accented on 3 sides in vinyl, with the front porch area being wood. Would I need to match the porch walls and rails the same color as the siding? I already started painting our front porch white (first coat). The first two pics are from a few years ago.

This is a bit confusing. You talk about replacing siding but you also say your house is brick. So is it still brick? Was the brick damaged and you have to replace it with siding?

It’sa 4 sided brick, but as you'll see in the pictures, there is vinyl siding on the upper portion of the back of the house as well as the sides. This is what’s being replaced. I

can upload a picture of the other side, but it’s tarped.

Nice house and yard. Consider choosing a dark bold brown for the fascia/soffit (and, perhaps, around your bold red door) but leave all the window trim white. A lighter brown for the siding you're adding would work well. https://www.pellabranch.com/blog/global-blogs/black-window-frames/ If the additional work to be done is changing out the windows, replace the large ?fixed? window with a pair that open and consider choosing black frames. You could then consider choosing a dark bold brown for window trim as well.

When your budget allows, get a cottage style door. The one you have now feels Victorian. Think about getting a panel with windows for the garage door. Remove the railing. It is a visual barrier to you entry. Plant only perennials there. Add a few plants along the foundation. Be careful not to plant too close to the house. Allow a foot at maturity between the side of the house and the plant. Chose different heights and leaf color. Include some evergreen and some flowering. Don't plant anything that will grow above the bottom of the windows. This color, but not this style would look great!

I have a very similar colored house and am having similar issues. Our brick is beige but there is pink colored red rock appointments at the bottom. Someone painted the trim red prior to us, and it really brought out the pink. The red painted trim faded to pink. Bad idea. I was thinking of going white, like yours to lessen the pink tones. An interior designer told me sage green would lessen the pink, but I couldn't commit to that. I have a Pinterest board that may interest you. https://pin.it/1lpNVkh I have a handful of red/pink brick homes on there. My vote would be a darker grey.

Mockup time! I tried to use the blue from your 'Wish list' album, but kept some warmth to go with the brick and fencing. The trim color hasn't changed much, a warm slate grey, I somewhat matched the roof with it. In real life the roofing should indeed be picked before the paint. Window frames and (garage) doors in offwhite, towards cream. No idea what material is on the steps/deck, but I muted the orange a bit. Hope you like it. (to return a favour paypal.me/rinkedit)

Charcoal would be nice for the roof…neutral and looks good with brick and lots of other choices. The example from Jinx is really nice. Gray/greens would work with your brick. This house in Michigan shows up often on Houzz. Love the brick with this paint color.

Ah, so the brick is staying. Then your A#1 priority is choosing a color that looks good with the brick.

Both the khaki and the dull green pictured above would be great!

A charcoal roof would look very good on your house. The siding in front that is vertical, should be same color as the new vinyl siding, which ever color you pick for that.

I love this color siding with brickand no black roof on this house a nice gray or brown would be good

I don’t see any benefit from adding another color …to a house this size…i would match the white trim..if a different color is preferred i would paint the trim to match the new color

As to the roof…and just guessing this is not a hot climate..i think black would be a complement and striking contrast with the brick

I do love the green Patricia has suggested with brick…but to really carry it off the trim should match …and her advised roof color as well

If the gray/green on the house I posted appeals to you, these from BM could be similar. The color used on the house was a custom mix.

Your brick with some black and white is very classic and nice.

ETA - Just wanted to say I believe the roof color on the house Patricia and I posted is gray. Looks great with the paint color.
