I assumed that mom270 meant that one side of the sectional would be 9'4" along one wall, & then the other side would be 6'5" in addition to the approximate 36" corner of the sectional, but perhaps I am mistaken & mom270 should clarify. It is indeed true that the smallest functioning sectional would be a corner section then 2 seat sections on either side. If mom270 currently has a 3 seat sofa & 2 seat loveseat, then she should have room for a sectional that is 3 seats, corner, & then 2 seats. And as for the corner seat not being used, I have found that to be true, but also people like it for leg stretch out room while laying down. I would prefer to have room at either end of the sectional for tables & lighting, or, at the very least floor lamps or wall swing arm lamps. ~Jeana

If you were sitting behind the sofa what would you be looking at? Often a regular sofa table can be flanked by a pair of accent or occasional chairs to "fill" the space. Or you can get a long table that is chunky enough to hold its own weight while still being skinny and stopping before the traffic path narrows.

OK, Priya - I have done two layouts. Your main problem is maintaining "walkways" through your space. Plus the TV being in the far corner is challenging for sure. These are two approaches for your review. We like to keep 3' passing/walkways through spaces, about 18" from front of sofa edge to a coffee table and at least 2' between chairs and other furniture such as sofas. The first layout puts the TV on a console along the long wall. this provides easy walk space and a chaise or bench in front of the fireplace provides additional seating to watch TV or sit by a fire. I couldn't read the tiny print too well on your drawing, but did the best I could to scale it to the main seating area. The Scale is 1/4"=1' or each little square is equal to one square foot. I put a sofa table behind the 84" x 44" comfy sofa and one or two lamps could sit on that sofa table. I didn't have a good idea of where that window is along that wall but it looks on the drawing like it is roughly across from the long wall. The coffee table is 44 x 22 which allows walking space from sofa around the space.

Really nice room. Like the art over/behind the larger sofa. Like the small narrow "end table". Like the large mirror on the angled wall. You could put a wide cabinet with shallow shelves and glass doors beneath the mirror and use it as a curio cabinet. Plenty of natural light. You might try adding a wide storage ottoman as window seating beneath the large center window. Leave that far end of the room out of the equation when "centering" your primary seating area. Create your main seating area by centering it with the STRAIGHT wall (left of the mirror) -- centered across from the tv. Furniture looks to be still in good shape. You really like it, too: " (much to my chagrin!)"? Before parting with sofas you really like that are still in really good shape, consider adding new feet/legs or even castors to them to raise the height. Even if you are not DIY inclined, having a woodworker make them probably would be cheaper than buying new sofas you don't like as well. Not a fan of sectionals; after all, who really likes sitting for extended periods of time without armrests? Sectionals severely limit your furniture placement options. Your round "tables" would make good end tables for each side of your sofa, with a tall thin lamp with medium white shade atop each..
