Help, what colour tiles for fireplace surround

We just installed oir new pellet insert, it is a deep mahogany red colour. However However, it clashes with the existing black tile, which will be replaced. I am thinking of white marble. What are your thoughts. Also, I am not sure if the hearth tile also be changed?

The inspo pic is a FP you have a stove type very traditional style I am not sure white marble is the way to go I like the black with that red stove

@Patricia Colwell Consulting Thank you, so much fir responding. I always value your opitio. This is a pellet insert, replacing an inefficent wood burner. I just find that the black tile with red/mahoganny stove clashes. Do you have other suggestions.

I know you said that you aren't changing the carpet, but might you consider it? Only because, I'm assuming that is a gas fireplace, there is no need for a large tile area in front. You can go for a narrow hearth or no hearth. If you wanted to do that, unless you have a large scrap or can match it, you're stuck with the large hearth. I like the idea of doing built-ins. As they would be asymmetrical anyway due to window placement, you may just want to build in on the right to accommodate TV and components and leave the left side as is. Not that I'm suggesting this style, but just to illustrate a tv next to fireplace built in, one side only. Something like this might work for you, but without the overmantel. Note that this tile surround is very similar to your hearth tile. If you like that look, you could get more tile, perhaps and then tie it together that way. Vistas Interior Design, thank you so much. The [photo[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/forest-avenue-modern-family-room-orlando-phvw-vp~2100924) you linked to looks beautiful. I never would've considered this possibility. That approach would shift the focus to whatever art, etc. we decide to decorate with. Houssaon, that's another extremely interesting suggestion--hanging a painting with some green would incorporate the green tiles in a way we might like. This is perhaps the easiest solution of all and it wouldn't require us to re-paint the tiles! Thanks! Sophie, I really appreciate the warning. We are inexperienced and will definitely proceed with great caution.

I am not sure what you mean by clashing and IMO black and red are always perfect together .

This is a terrible installation. I don't know anything about the insert you installed but I'm sure that the space on the sides and grille from the old fireplace is not supposed to be exposed.

The proper way to do this is to install the stone surround first and then your insert.

@Patricia Colwell Consulting @BeverlyFLADeziner Pellet stove is on tracks and can easily be rolled out. We then can replace the tiles and hide the old fireplace. Hmm, mayb its just me and i need to get used to the existng black tile. We then can continue same tile around the stove. Or add MDF just below the black tile tile, paint it White same as surround.

@Sammie J Hi Sammie, thank you for replying. the black metal is the old fireplace and coukd not be removed without destroying the entire wall. It will be covered up. We are trying to decide on best way to do this. See my response to @Patricia Colwell Consulting and @BeverlyFLADeziner

I can see what's wrong, but don't know how to make it right. The white surround doesn't look right with the stove and/or the tile. It's like three unmatching elements to my eye. Hope someone with a good eye for design comes along. Best of luck!

I would not put MDF next to the firebox. I think if you retile all in a black matte or slate color tile it will look fine.
