Alone for the holidays?
Comments (21)Thought I'd bring this one up to update...looks like I will be alone for T-Giving after all...mom's come down with a bad cold and feels rotten, doesn't want the family to catch it...Niece cancelled out because of unexpected company and my brother's not coming back because I am on call on friday for work and he wouldn't have anything to do since he can't be at moms. Gloom?...Despair?...nope, but on the sad side,I do think I sprained my wrist doing a few backflips. HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO EVERYONE!! I hope you enjoy one of the few holidays that isn't overly commercialized....See MoreHoliday Hits and Misses
Comments (47)All the grandchildren's gifts were hits. My eight and nine year old grandsons favored their Underarmor hoodies and Hershey Park season tickets. My toddler grandson's favorite was the fire truck pedal car that DH got for him and he loved the youth tablet and case. The babies got clothing and money in their bank accounts. My DDs loved the Spode Christmas tree mugs, Penzy spices, Rough Linen tea towels and as always the money gifts. The big miss was an Underarmor hoody I got for DS. It was black with the UA logo outlined in green. I saw the roll of eyes and asked if he liked it. He answered that it's ok but he would never wear it outside of the house. Nothing new with him not liking a gift. Even the rare times he raved about a gift at the time months or several years later I hear how crappy it was. One year we bought him, his s.o. and her daughter the best desk top computer and printer that Circuit City had. It was expensive but it was needed. A few years later he told me it was a pos and he bought something else. Next year he will get a cash gift only. DH gave me a Fitbit. I had planned on purchasing an Apple watch for myself. but I love the Fitbit because he got it for me. He also gave me a Chico's gift certificate that I will put to good use. My all time favorite gifts though this year is a little ceramic heart that my DGs gave me that says "life is sweeter because you're my Nana", and the family photo books from my DDs!...See MoreSpecial gift for niece/nephew wedding - any ideas?
Comments (63)Gloria, I see that your post was removed and I'm sorry that I missed it. Everyone has to have a first post; I don't know why yours was assumed to be Spam. Welcome to THS/HOUZZ. If you have a recommendation for a gift I'd like to see it. Would you please repost?...See MoreWedding Gift when wedding is months before Reception
Comments (46)I was scurrying to post before a meeting. I know a Hershey gift card may seem strange but really, the number of properties and venues owned by Hershey is wild.. Hershey Gardens, the Spa at Hershey, ZooAmerica, Hershey Arena (Hershey Bears hockey), Hershey Stadium (rock concerts) a number of restaurants in the area as well as the theater and amusement park. The whole town is geared towards family entertainment. I am surprised I never thought of this before. It was sparked by their love of Broadway and wanting to initiate their son to the theater but there are so many different things to do throughout the year and as his/their interests change. I feel good about this gift.. and given that there are 4 Broadway shows coming up that my niece has said they want to see, I think they will ALL be pleased. And I think it will be fun to package.. ideas welcome!...See MoreAnnegriet
