My granddaughters are fraternal twins. After they were born, I could not help but look from one to the other and think, omg there are two! Both are healthy, happy, smart, and beautiful almost sweet sixteen.

We have lots of twins. Some identical, some fraternal. One of my sisters had 2 sets of fraternal boys before having her single boy and lastly a single girl. I have an uncle with identical twin girls and my grandmother had several sets of identicals, of which, only one per set survived.

My cousin has 2 sets of twins. First set were boy & girl, second 2 boys.

I don't know of any multiples in any generation of all my extended family, including that into which I married.

One set of fraternal twins in the previous generation, but that's the only twins in my family and I know of none at all in my DH's family. That's about six generations of family on both sides.

My grandfather had a twin sister. My stepbrother has fraternal twin girls, but they are not biologically related to me.

(I'm boycotting polls) My husband's uncle's wife's sister had three sets of fraternal twins: B/G, G/G, G/G, plus one single boy. Since the uncle and his wife could not have children, and the mother of the twins was quite Bohemian, for want of any other word (this was 70 +/- years ago), they adopted one set, and the third set were born after the mother had divorced and adopted outside the family. The last set were located and they all had a reunion a few years ago.

Growing up, we had 3 sets of twins who lived within a mile of us,

I have identical twin boys. No fertility treatments, they were our 4th and 5th children in just 4 and a half years. All of our children are in their 20’s now, and moved out... and hubby and I downsized our house. (Actually, we are in a temporary living situation as we are building our next home. We are still in the permit process right now, hope to break ground in July.) After our twins were born (and we had adjusted to them being identical boys, since we thought they were going to be b/g twins most of the pregnancy) one of my aunts on my dad’s side told me “well, I wondered when twins would show up again!” I had never known that one of my grandmothers had been pregnant with 2 sets of twins and one set of triplets. Unfortunately, none were born alive. I am still the only one in my extended family to have multiples that I know of. (Hubby’s side doesn’t have any either... not that it would affect me... but it would potentially affect our daughters.) I’m not a grandparent yet.... so maybe I’ll have some multiples grandbabies! Anyways, loved having lots of kids around the dinner table! It did affect our home buying options while raising kids though... it’s amazing how many houses are knocked out of the running when you can’t comfortably fit a large kitchen table in them. When we were speaking with our architect for the house we are building, we don’t need to always have a large table, but we do need the ability to expand a table or add multiple tables for our visiting kids and their future families. We ended up with an open floor plan that would allow for easy rearranging to accommodate a large table or tables.

No blood relatives. The spouse of one of my kids has a fraternal sibling of the opposite sex.

My mother miscarried twins and true to every-other-generation her grandchild, my nephew, has BG twins. I remember the drama in 1960's when cousin went into labour and TWO babies (BG) were born.

My mother was a twin. They were fraternal, Mom looked more like one sister and mother, and the twin looked more like their mother’s sister. Anyway my Mom conceived twins but one did not develop on the womb, Mom’s twin had twins, two other sisters had twins, and her half-brother had twin stepchildren and one of her nephews and his wife had twins (not the same thing, but karma!) Mom once counted up all the cousins in her family with twins, and it was a pretty high number.

None on either side as far back as we did genealogy...the 1700s.

My mother was pregnant with (natural/spontaneous) triplets, but only one (my sister) survived to birth. No other multiples in my family, despite quite a few of us undergoing fertility treatments.

My cousin had twins on her birthday.

My other cousin also had twins.

My father's sisters were twins. They were born in 1918, and, of course, my grandmother did not know she was carrying two babies. They were fraternal. Aunt Addie lived to be 101, but Aunt Florence died about 20 years before that. It would have been so wonderful if they had both been at the 100th birthday blowout.

I have a fraternal twin sister. We were born in 1951 before ultrasound so my mom did not know she was having twins untill we were born. Twins run on her side of the family.

There were many twins in my ancestral French family, in France and in the US, but none I know about after 1900.

One of our neighbors related giving birth to her second son, then stopping the doctor who was repairing her episiotomy (sp?), saying she felt more 'pressure'. It was a surprise daughter!

DH's grandmother had two sets of twins. Given the time and place, not surprising that they didn't survive toddlerhood. Early 20th century, area under dispute... Again...

None ever recorded in my family, and records go back for centuries.

We have fraternal twin girls, but they were conceived via IVF. Two of my first cousins have (non fertility treatment) identical twins, 1 set of boys, one set of girls. My husband's mother miscarried twins as did one of my sisters. My cousin who has the identical twin girls - they are so identical that the dad, although he was very involved, could not tell them apart for the first couple of years so they had to do the nail polish on the big toe thing. They are still very identical to this day (they are 25) but one has a teeny mole on her cheek, so that is how I tell them apart.

Twin granddaughters (identical). No IVF. I have twin cousins-boy/girl. Before IVF. My honorary son (son's best friend all their lives) has triplets-two girls/one boy. My great-grandmother was a twin as well. I think she and her sister were identical.

None in my family BUT my nephew’s wife had their son and almost immediately (less than one month after his birth!!!) became pregnant with twin boys. And, no, twins don’t run in her family either. They thought she couldn’t get pregnant while nursing. Wrong! The now three boys are like triplets, doing everything together. They even look like triplets!

My husband’s Dad is an identical twin.

My mother was a twin. 1923. Her sister died before the age of 2.

My husband's mother was a twin. Born in 1930 she was the second born. In 2008 she left us to join two of her seven children and her twin sister. We lost her too soon. We still miss her.
