Need help with Hall and Stairway Runner
Comments (7)You have to be careful about starting and stopping before the very last step (actually the hallway floor) depending upon how thick the runner is. Believe it or not, neuromucularly your feet are "programmed" after each has taken one step up or down. You should actually be ok, the more problematic situation is when there is bare stairs and carpeting at the top: since it is a "higher" step, due to the carpet thickness it can trip you up sometimes. What could potentially happen here is that your food expects to meet the step before it actually does since the last step is "lower" due to the absence of carpet. If you notice this you could place an area rug at the top....See MoreHelp with matching foyer lights for upper hallway
Comments (3)design-wotcha...thanks for the complement on the fixture. Looking to replace two ceiling lights in the upper hallway and possibly the sconce that I have at a landing of the staircase going up. I'll try to post pictures later today when I get home from work. I'm actually updating the whole house. I'll be stripping and re-staining the staircase and replacing the balusters, changing out the interior doors and trim, replacing tile, updating the kitchen and bathrooms and more. teacats...thanks for the link. Nice fixtures, but it doesn't anything for me. I came across this one. What does everyone think of this?...See MorePlease help with paint color selection for foyer and hall
Comments (2)Leave the foyer and stair wall and upstairs hall what it is now. As far as the dark area of the hallway, paint that one the red recommended by B.M. Sienna Red. A light, soft color will respond just as it is now, so you need a stronger, warmer color. I had an antique half Cape house and the hallway was just like yours. I painted it red (I think it was Pottery (blue undertone), but the adjoining wall was Palladian blue. The red looked great 24 hrs....See MoreNeed help finding hallway light to match
Comments (2)Since they're hallway lights, rather than invest a lot of money in them, you might consider focusing instead on making the all the hall lights visually disappear when not on -- just have all the hall lights match and let the room lights you've already chosen take all the glory....See MoreRL Relocation LLC
