Feedback on my location of my soap dispenser, please? (PICS)
Comments (17)We bought a Grohe faucet and at lowcostplumbing.com but it was still a nice piece of change and the $19.95 soap dispenser at Lowes. They look great together. I asked the question about the placement too. I had always had my on the counter dispenser on the left, and I had to really think why I did. I figured it out. With my right hand I turn on the water, and with my left I always would press down the soap into my hand. With my new dispenser, I didn't think about one thing, the spout is a little longer and at first, using the my old "moves" from the on the counter one, I squirted the soap all over and missed my hand. I wish it was a little shorter, but I've figured it out. I'm learning new "moves". Oh, I also have it so it hangs over the sink so it squirts into the sink if I make a mistake. I did fill the bottle that came with it, but I'm going to order a Never MT ASAP. At that time, I think I'll fill it with dish soap so it can do double duty. Good luck! Be careful, my hole was drilled too close to the sink and they had to come back to trim some sink off under the counter so it could fit!...See MoreAir switch placement
Comments (6)Even if you place it back farther, you'll still have to wipe around it in the normal course of cleaning. Plus, to me, it will be a busier look to have it not line up with your faucet and whatever other items like soap dispenser or side spray that you have with the faucet. I don't find I get lots of water around my air switch. I simply wipe around it and over it when I wipe down the faucet and soap dispenser after meals. No biggie. My sponge/wash cloth has to go over that part of the counter anyway, and the air switch is so flat that its inconsequential....See MorePlacement of soap dispenser and air switch on granite counter?
Comments (10)Lexluthor, it's not a stupid question. I didn't know what one was until I encountered the term here--and then I had to have one (two, actually!). An airswitch is an alternative to a wall switch. It's the little button on the counter to the right of the faucet in my pic. In most cases here, it's to operate the garbage disposal, although it could be used for just about anything with an on/off switch. Most people who use them like not having the clutter of a wall switch on their backsplash, or in the case of a garbage disposal in an island, having an easily accessible place for the switch. I have them at both sinks and love them....See MoreAir switch, faucet, SD, sprayer placement?
Comments (2)The air switch isn't really an issue. They're so low profile that they will fit almost anywhere and not contribute all that much to the "busy" look. How wide is your sink? You might also check the Finished Kitchens Blog (FKB) for kitchen sinks w/a similar setup to yours. Go to the FKB (http://finishedkitchens.blogspot.com/) Click on the "FKB Categories" link on the right navigation panel Scroll down until you come to the "Special Features" section (at the end). Look for the "Apron Sink" category & click on it You will be presented with a list of the kitchens in the FKB that have apron sinks (I just checked, there are 60 of them) To look at a kitchen, click on the kitchen owner's name (e.g., jeanar).
