Help deciding on holes in granite: Soap Dispenser/Air Switch?
Comments (4)My kitchen does not need to pass inspection so I was also thinking I would skip the air gap. That would then be 4 things placed at the sink. What would be a good placement for those? It won't be symmetrical since the faucet will be centered. So, where should the soap dispenser, filter faucet and air switch go? What would look the best? Thanks again!...See MoreSinks, holes, faucets, soap dispensers & air switches
Comments (3)We have that sink, and our fabricator drilled the holes. We got an expensive soap dispenser and have had no problems. The air switch is also a no brainer type thing, so we went totally on looks, and it was very inexpensive also. Hope everything continues to go smoothly :)...See MoreGranite Hole Placement/ Unable to Install Undermount Air Switch Nut
Comments (15)Yup. You are right Joseph Corlett--doesn't sound great. I don't know how people remodel more than 1 kitchen in a lifetime. And I don't know how you can deal daily with fixing so many botched counter / sink installs. My hat is off to you! Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with GW. People like me really need and value your advice. This reno started out with optimism and energy to make the temporary kitchen an "adventure" and decisions are just opportunities. It's all wearing thin now with the little things that crop up (and the not so little things like counter problems). And I know I do not have it bad at all. Tomorrow will be a fresh day with fresh energy to deal with it. Thanks again Treb!...See Morecan an air switch be swapped with a soap dispenser?
Comments (6)Or, get a "batch feed disposal" for which there is no switch needed. The batch feed disposal is operated by its lid - push down the lid, the disposal turns on, pull out the lid, the disposal turns off. It is also safer, since it cannot be operated without the lid on. No need for an air switch or a switch in the wall for this disposal. When the disposal is not being used, the lid acts as a regular sink strainer. I recommend the Waste King 3/4 hp batch feed model 9900TC which comes with 10-year warranty (that is the 3-bolt mount style). Or the 5000TC which is the same 3/4 hp batch feed but is the EZ-mount style. Insinkerator also makes a batch feed style, but I don't like the magnetic lid it has, which is more finicky to turn on and off than the Waste King....See Morelexluthor
