Nope, definitely NOT parsley. To me, it looks like some kind of buttercup (Ranunculus). There are a lot of weedy species of buttercups which can be very invasive. If I were you, I would nip it in the bud ASAP. If your potatoes haven't yet sprouted, spray it with Roundup or similar, or cover it over with black plastic, cardboard, etc, and make just small holes, which you can weed by hand, for the potatoes to grow through.

Thanks for the response. The funny thing is my spriklers have been off all year because we've gotten so much rain this summer. I just turned them back on last week because we went a week without rain and there was no rain in the forecast. In addition to this issue, I'm also battling a fungus problem. I applied 100lbs of cornmeal last week. Because of the fungus problem, I was trying to restrict watering anyway. I set my sprinklers to come on every other day for about 10 minutes per zone. I know you're supposed to water less frequently and in greater amounts, but my lawn started showing sings of drought stress so I wanted to get the soil moist and then I'll cut it back. Anyway, I plan to aerate the lawn with my tow-behind aerator later this week and then fertilize since I haven't fertilized since early summer due to the fungus issue. I guess it would make sense to aerate first and then apply some something to take care of the sedge issue. Should I wait to fertilize? I've noticed (as you can see in the picutre) that the sedge seems to be dying off in places and turning brown. I'm assuming its due to the cold temps we've been having at night. Thanks, Kevin

If it is thrips, you will be able to see damage in the white part of the rose. That is where it shows up most clearly. You will see brown streaks or tiny brown spots. In your case I would be tempted to leave it for a few days just to find out for sure which one is causing it. Once you know you can remove any damaged roses promptly. This may reduce (but not eliminate) the spread of the thrips. You'll probably take the proliferating ones off as well but it's not so important in that case. Rosefolly

Yes, remove it. It is not a valuable tree - it's basically a throwaway in the nursery industry. All prunus are susceptible, some significantly more than others. You can treat with a fungicide and a lot of pruning, but I wouldn't bother with a purple leaf plum. If you're looking for a spring flowering tree, consider service berry (amelanchier)
