white dove or Kendall charcoal ?

I have decision fatigue .
Please help .
We have put a fireplace and tv in a lower level of a cottage .
There are inset natural white oak shelves on the far left ( about 30” wide) . Also in the room ( painted white dove) is a bench to the right of the fireplace ( BM Kendall charcoal ) and a servery on the opposite side of the bench also
Kendall charcoal. We had been told you couldn’t shiplap the fireplace but now we know we can . I had changed cabinet design to v groove when I was told no to shiplap for the fireplace .
So now we are finishing the space and wonder if we should simply paint the space white dove or Kendall charcoal or go with vertical or horizontal shiplap? The niche could be the opposite color of the body but that may look choppy .

Interesting. The install is going to pass the fire code when inspected? I thought there were strick rules about using combustibles close to the wood burning box.

Back to the fireplace. I am voting for neither of the colors for the fireplace. The white is for the walls trim and ceiling and the Kendall Charcoal is furniture (cabinets). The fireplace is none of those features and I suggest it have its own color.

So I looked around the B.M. site and found that this color is a different shade of Kendall Charcoal. Luckily, thanks to KylieM's blog, she had a fireplace in just the color. I think it would be fab against the white walls and be dark enough to hang in there with the charcoal.

Thank you for your research and response . Amherst grey is lovely . Interesting thought.
The fireplace has heat shift technology and this is something we painstakingly looked into . In the manual it states :
Combustible
wall finish up to
1" thick may be
installed over
cement board
and butt up to
the 1" trim all
around the opening.
I’m excited we can do this .

I always use an extender with Aura. It gives you more time before drying. If you're painting a bathroom, research "surfactant leaching." This happens when the paint in a bathroom isn't fully cured, and you use the shower. Google photos of surfactant leaching. Most paint stores will say latex cures in a few days, but I had this problem in two homes and did extensive research. You get ugly drips down the walls, and they are yellow or brown. You can wash it off, but it comes back. Now, when I paint a bathroom, I wait 30 days before using the shower. That may be overkill, and if you only have one shower, that would not be possible.

No color advice but love your comment - " I have a vision of cute little red-headed grandkids visiting and doing projects and maybe camping out in this fun room some day. My kids are in college and hardly even dating yet," I am in the same boat only DD is trying to figure out how to have kids without the red hair. Neither DD or DS are in solid relationships as of yet. But I have started a tickle trunk non the less. Love the charcoal grey.

I have White Dove Cabinets, they come off rather creamy to me too, although I didn't want stark white. I had Gray Owl BM walls and was having walls repainted a couple of days ago, painter made a mistake and paint SW Agreeable Gray instead! They of course offered to repaint but family Said they like the AG better, so I had them paint the same up the stairway and large loft room instead. Im no color expert so Im hoping the AG looks as good with my cabinets and quartzite countertops!! I have a subway tile that I found from someone on here that goes really well with WD cabinets. Subway is classic and timeless IMO. I have 5 recessed lights in my kitchen and also tried several bulbs, LED looked to bright and sterile to me, but I my give them another try! Sorry I can't help with suggestions, but will be following your post to hear what others recommend.

Girl! well hell. Here's what I'd do w/that. I'd remove that micro from over the stove, get yourself a proper vent. then I'd do a wood butcher block countertop over and around, and do a built in microwave below it. Think along this line, but forgo the uppers. you could do open shelving though do the micro where the baskets are. Tile the entire wall, OR just paint it a bold color. hang a cool light that spot at the end could be something like this, you could do a narrower countertop, but it would still give you some extra room if you don't want window seat, do a floating bar top you need a pantry cabinet? At the very least, do something like these open cubbies or shelving ideas for that wall. this is a cool idea for next to the stove too. what's to the right side of that window?

I forgot to mention. It’s a gas fireplace .
