Since you have already painted them white, I would leave them. I think it is probably just a big change for you, and has made you wonder about your decision. The white looks just fine with your counters. Once the doors are back on, and you have hardware in place, it will make a big difference. No, I would not remove the cabinets. They are a lot more practical in a kitchen than open shelving is. From dark to white, is a big change, give yourself time to get used to it.

If using white, you need a warmer white.

I just painted my kitchen cupboards with 2 different colors and love the look. if you painted the combination in picture, kitchen will be neither too white or too dark. The grey is a bit darker than your example and you go lighter.

The primer certainly freshens things up! If you want to play it safe I agree with the previous posts, a warm white would be classic. I love the look of the kitchen below, and the color reminds me of your spatula. I guess it just depends on what the overall style of your house is...Have you thought about extending the uppers to the ceiling? SOME (not all) open shelving is also a fun idea and definitely worth considering. also what are you going to do backsplash wise?

Personally, I like the white. I would do black or stainless pulls. I think it will look good.

I used BM white dove and Behr binary star on my cabinet island combo.

Totally agree about White Dove by BM. Kendall Charcoal by BM is a great dark warm gray. But before you start picking grays, figure out what undertone you want. ALL grays have undertones and they make a huge difference in how the cabinets will look. The undertone will either next green, blue, pink or purple. Avoid pink and purple undertones for sure. Whether green or blue is better will depend on the rest of the room. Keep in mind also that the gray paint will look lighter on the cabinets than you think it will from any sample. Once you have it narrowed down to two or three grays, paint some doors and live with it for a few days before making your decision 😊.

We went with Sherwin Williams Proper Gray for cabinets; worked for us. True we originally had picked Grayish but realized it was too light.

I think a champagne gold (not a bright gold) would look great

if you plan on doing a tile splash, take off that 4" piece first. it's not difficult to remove

One other thing, since you've painted, get a piece of panel for the end here to hide the sides of the micro/range. Or at the very least, just do the upper portion w/an end panel

any more of that granite? you could do this and maybe an open shelf for the micro

maybe add an open cubby up top? below do a spice rack or just a white panel? would be nice to have a little landing space on the right side of the stove

Wow! Thank you! This is it at present. Have many other house projects going on and getting a puppy soon, so trying to wrap some things up. Will put new lighting in as well...someday soon because we don’t like our lights! eventually the floor too!

White tile and painting will also have to be figured out. There Is a shiny paint (white on walls now).

ok, since you were working on the kitchen and painting, I threw out the end panel Idea (and micro) since I think it would finish off the look. Plus, it would give you a much needed right side of the range. Shouldn't take more than a few hours to actually accomplish. do you have a small remnant of your granite?

Or, if you take off that 4 inch piece up the back, use a section of that for the right side

like shown here. and then just do a panel and trim piece to close in the micro

Here's what I'd do w/that. I'd remove that micro from over the stove, get yourself a proper vent.

then I'd do a wood butcher block countertop over and around, and do a built in microwave below it. Think along this line, but forgo the uppers. you could do open shelving though

Tile the entire wall, OR just paint it a bold color. hang a cool light

that spot at the end could be something like this, you could do a narrower countertop, but it would still give you some extra room

if you don't want window seat, do a floating bar top

you need a pantry cabinet?

At the very least, do something like these open cubbies or shelving ideas for that wall.

katherine, a proper vent is what you need over your stove top. micros do have a venting system, but it has to be hooked up via ducting that is carried outside. otherwise, you're just recirculating greasy stove top residue. gross. there should be a large, silver duct that, hopefully, connects to the outside world. if not, you'll need to rectify that. micros are the worst for venting, but they're better than nothing.

built in microwaves are just that. they have to say, "built in or cabinet' approved. and they need a certain amount of clearance. I must have looked at 50 of them before I got mine, so i'm very well versed in these built ins! (GE Profile, 1.5 cubic. I'll save you the hassle)
