painting ceiling and walls in same color will still create a different "look"/tone pallete because of the light value the higher the ceilings the more the shade will appear different using the same color for trim but in semi-gloss will probably create just a little different color value because of light's refraction read in some remodel mag lately that one decorator who specialized in "white" rooms used different % of shade and maybe even different colors to achieve the same color tone throughout the room because of how light affected the walls/ceilings/trim... we repainted the house we bought in October on the inside and had the most difficult time trying to decide on whether or not to paint the ceilings the same 100% shade or to use a 50 or 75% knock down version--went with the 100 but the ceilings don't always look like the same color/shade... our trim is darker and is shellac--would have been very expensive to paint that along with the walls/ceilings... in this same vein--IF you were painting interior of older home to put on resale market--would you paint the ceilings the same or lighter version of wall color or go with white my husband and daughter (who has good design sense), and my friend all say go with white--but my instinct is to go with say a 50% or maybe 30% of the wall color because that seems to be what is going on in newer, more expensive construction...and would maybe appeal psychologically more than just new white paint...most rooms in the house have 8ft ceilings but the kitchen's and entry hall are vaulted taking down all wallpaper too

Yes, absolutely. Ceiling does look higher. The whole space feels more open, cleaner, and airy. It's a pleasure to be there, after 25+ years of being kind of a utilitarian space. So there's hope for all of those boring spaces in our homes, y'all!

I would need to see a bit more of the space and I dislike beige in any shade but yes you can do the ceiling in a 50% cut and I would do that faux finished one too. Before doing anything make sure all the light bulbs are LEDs in 4000K.
