I think the exact definition of "curb appeal" has to do with the public face a house presents to the world. Around these parts plenty of rural houses both old and new have the functional utility door (usually to kitchen or rear entry) that everyone uses and the more formal front door facing the road that rarely is used.] Does that little road or path on the left side of pic go to your front door? Where does the little path to the right go? I assume your guests would park in driveway in front of the doors - where do they go from there? if its that little road on the left or that little path on the right - then how can that be made more appealing/welcoming? A common recommendation is to never do anything major to a house the first year If you live there a while eventually you will know what you can live with, what really bugs you, and by looking at pics, talking to people eventually things start to make sense. You may discover some reasoning for why house was built as it was. Or not! By living with it you start to know how you use the house and what things if any you need to do to modify it to make it work better for you.

I hired a carpenter to make wooden storms for a rental property (because I wanted to replicate the mid century muntin pattern of the windows). Then I took them to a glass shop for the glass, and then I painted them. They were not too expensive, and if you use a rot-resistant wood (like cedar or Douglas fir) and maintain the paint, they should last for a long time. You could even make them yourself if you are at all handy.

(not a pro) It might help others help you if you also post some pics of what "rustic charm" looks like to you. But 2 cents from a non-pro until some pros chime in: I love the look of a sage green cabin I prefer your exteriors without the decorative pediment in the left gable (just over the door to draw attention there) Would you consider using natural cedar for the front pillars and pediment? Cedar is a good exterior wood (pros please correct me if wrong) and looks so great with green siding IMO

This is the Meyer May House in Grand Rapids, MI which is a FLW design. It's a landmark Prairie style home. The facade emphasizes the horizontal nature of the design. It's all brick except for some stone bands. I'm not an architect, but I don't think there is a need for three different types of finishes on your house, and any siding should run horizontally instead of vertically.
