west exposure, I'd go light, a sage or soft green with white trim, aqua shutters would be fresh, as well as the door. Your name implys Beach... bring it home.

Tough on the front door since anything dark will get too hot. So have you thought to change the door to a proper wood door? Otherwise I would do a light blue shade of beige. as to the shutters I think a soft pale green or sage would be nice.

Since the heat is such an issue I would build a little front porch with a roof that would fit the house and provide some much needed shade there, in turn this may allow you to have the door color of your choice. I would give that some thought first.

The pediments above each window need to stay as they are, they where not decorative rather functioned for shade i believe.

I do not believe your home would have had shutters.

I like the colors in RL's lower right example. The sage-y green on the shutters is really nice, and could even go on the door. The sky blue door color is also nice.

Too bad the heat is an issue. Black could be really striking. We had a western exposure on a previous house so I do understand.

building a portico would help a lot and suit the house.
