what they all said... but to clarify.. simplify.. i hope ... a plant in the wild has ONLY ONE goal ... to reproduce ... produce seed ... and if the fruit/veg itself rots where it lays.. all it is doing .. is composting the seed produced ... with me so far .. a gardener... has no need for seed ... their goal is large pretty produce ... and that is not accomplished.. by letting them lay on the ground ... due to the potential of bugs and diseases mentioned above easy peasy ... lol.. see what i did there ... its veg related.. lol .. do NOT confuse industrial production as one above noted ... because ... again.. their goal is different ... near napoleon OH is the campbells soup factory that makes its famous tomato soup ... for lots of miles around... all you see is T fields... and in season.. giant semi dump trucks filled with Ts ... i often wonder how they arent all crushed by the time they get their.. from their own weight piled 8 or 10 foot high ... [probably because they are picked while still rather hard] the point being.. they arent trying to produce a grocery store perfect T.. you can try going all nature in your process ... all the power to ya .... but i would suggest ... you plant say 3 plants.. stake one.. cage one.. and let one lie ... i learned more by experimenting.. than i ever did from a book/WWW .. especially since we didnt have the WWW back them .... good luck ken

OH, so that is what you did! Oh Cindee! Yes, I have been so careful around my dogs...the big one guards me by lying across the doorways that I have to get through, LOL. Yes, I Am so glad that I did this, and so glad To be almost done with it! worked outside for about 20 minutes today and that was exhausting...I made myself go inside after that! Also tried driving for the first time...Feels like tight rubber bands in my knees. I am sure it will be much better in a week. :-0. . It's "F M" . . . . 'Friggin Magic . . . I've got a system designed and installed by ETM; been here a bit over a year now. And yes; your meter can indeed run backwards. I've supplied a VERY healthy percent of my annual electricity usage for my residence during the past year. Electric meters ( well, the "old fashioned" mechanical ones with the moving dial ) are really just a specialized motor . . . and when power goes OUT to the grid; it will run backwards. Net metering basically means that if you use a kilowatt hour ( kWh ) and then later on replace it with one of your own; you owe nothing for electricity. Also know that there is other interconnect stuff required; so as to prevent the possibility of hurting someone working on the lines during an outage trying to restore things . . It's quite involved technically as far as the equipment goes and how it works . . . but as an "end user" such as myself; it is pretty darn close to just let the equipment run and do it's thing. You are correct in wondering how it's done; the DC from the panels goes through an inverter . . . which has the ability to produce power JUST like the power company; and to "synch" up with it as needed. Such equipment must meet utility requirements and others as well. In my particular case; I also chose to have battery back-up; when the grid does go down; the switchover is so fast that you can barely detect it. It also reconnects when things are back to normal; automatically. I'm an electronics guy myself; and while the basic principles are fairly straght forward; actually doing it at the power levels involved, to everyone's satisfaction; is indeed a daunting engineering task. I've got 2800 w of PV panels, a 4 kW inverter; and about 1000 lbs of batteries that comprise my system. I've got a write-up I did if anyone is interested; email me with a REAL email address and I can send it along. I welcome questions too . . and rather enjoy showing it to anyone who has some interest in it . . . and right now, NY has some GOOD incentives for such systems . . when you toss in the tax credits as well; they all ended up covering ~ half the cost of my system . . . . Your original message said, "Can anybody tell me how to post a pic in word and then type over it?" So, I thought you were using Microsoft Word, not WordPerfect. They are two totally different programs. It's been many years since I used WordPerfect, but I used to add graphics and type over them; or add graphics and then add another graphic so that it would be positioned partly over the first graphic, etc. I couldn't give you instructions now, though, because it's been too long. Sorry! :-( Have you checked the "Help" feature in WordPerfect?
