Best FD CD fridge today?
Comments (16)We just bought the frigidaire FGHG2366PF and it was delivered Wednesday. I did not want water and we did not hook up the ice machine-- we do not have a water line where fridge is installed and do not really care about ice that much. My first thoughts are the fridge space is ample for a counter depth except for the veggie and fruit bins , but there are only 2 of us so I can manage. The freezer is a disappointment. It holds much less than my LG bottom freezer did-- space is lost with the slide out top drawer since it will not slide when a package is a bit too high. It does make more noise and seems to run more but maybe that is normal for newer fridges. It has LED lighting which I love and a door alarm if it is left open too long and alarms if the temp gets too hot. I wanted a fingerprint proof finish which is why I chose this fridge and did not want side by side. I also wanted to keep it reasonably priced since I had bought my regular LG 6.5 years ago and I am frugal and could not justify a new fridge when we redid the kitchen. The LG is now the second fridge mostly because I need freezer space and we like to keep extra beverages cold. Hope that helps....See MoreFrench Door Refrigerator: LG or Samsung?
Comments (28)Well I have a lg french door 24.7 refrigerator and it's been a joy to own so far. The doors close via hydraulic assist, the led lights actually illuminate every shelf unlike the ge profile with single cluster at the top of the fridge. The ice maker makes ice, never seen it without any ice and we use it every day. Speaking of the ice dispensor I really love the stainless steel switch, other are cheap plastic, and the two bright led lights that actually illuminate the dispensor area so you can actually see your cup. The doors are solid, the ge felt strange and the door handles flexed on it as did the sears units I looked at. I bought mine a hhgregg and also got the 5 year extended warranty just in case but so far the only thing I've done is change a water filter. Speaking of filters lg changed the model to a new upgraded filter so keep that in mind if you want to replace it and don't see the one listed in the manual. I also have to say that lg has been fantastic for me with their steam washer and dryer that I also have, the red units on pedestals with the green led panels. They wash and dry effectively and the led lights in the tub so you can see your laundry at the end of the cycle is a very nice touch. My experience with lg has been very good so far and I would not hessitate to buy another appliance from them. I did however skip their dishwasher in favor of the samsung unit because of the features that the samsung had....See MoreUh oh, Emergency Fridge Purchase! Samsung, KA?
Comments (10)I have a Samsung. I was told my several people at the store, repairmen, and consumer reports online that some of the LGs have a problem where the light inside does not turn off when the door is closed, and if you don't notice for a while, the fridge can actually start to melt and burn. Fire in the fridge - terrible idea. I LOVE my Samsung. It is the highest rated fridge by Consumer Reports (or was, when I bought it). The only thing to mention is that some of the early Samsungs had ice issues. They have "fixed it", but if you are the type of person who requires a cooler full of ice every so often, its not going to make enough. Also, you can sometimes hear the ice fall. These things don't bother me at ALL - I use a normal amount of ice, and the kitchen is across the house from the bedroom so I don't hear it. If you DO take out all the ice at once, you want to put a cup up to it and ask it for ice a few times - to remind it that it needs to make more. I never did that on my old fridge, but its not that big of a problem for me. After you remind it that its empty, it makes lots of ice plenty fast for me. I LOVE the Samsung though, and I would recommend it to anyone. It is the best appliance purchase I have ever made, and I have replaced every appliance in this house at least twice....See Morewould a 24" fridge look OK in a space designed for a 36" fridge?
Comments (32)When I bought my first fridge, I knew that I didn't use much fridge space, but I went ahead and got a 36" counter depth (with ice, not in door) for my small kitchen. However, those were not so prevalent 24 years ago so it was expensive (but not sub-zero expensive). Could I have gotten a smaller one? Probably. Would it have been counter depth? No. I still have that fridge. A marriage, then a move, then kid, then divorce later I most definitely don't want a smaller fridge when I get a new one. I'd like it to be bigger, but I want a sub zero integrated, so it may end up being slightly smaller. That makes me really nervous. I'm hoping that going from a side by side to an over/under layout will help. Fingers crossed!...See Morewdccruise
