New one for me this year
Comments (6)You might, Liz, but I can't remember when I've ever seen them nectaring on flowers. Maybe they like rotting fruit? I quit putting it out, because all I ever got was flies! Somebody should know. Sherry P.S. I looked through my picture list, and the only picture I've got of a buckeye on a flower is a mist flower - Mistflower/wild ageratum/Conoclinium coelistinum is a wildflower that grows everywhere around here. I pull it up all the time, don't think I really appreciate it, but I should, because butterflies all like it. Comments (13)Talley Sue, I feel your pain. After remodeling our kitchen I chose a middle-end self-cleaning electric stove. I can't believe how hot to the touch the top gets. So much harder to clean too. I will have to try some of the above suggestions. I HATE to cook on the darn thing because it's so hard to clean up. Next kitchen remodle will consist of a microwave and vending machines only ;) To think I gave up my almond-colored 18 yr old, still working, stove. Now I know how my Mom felt two years ago when she had to give up her 1949 Tappan. Still working perfectly and in beautiful like-new condition! They sure don't make stuff like they did in the "old days" LOL...See MoreOne coat paint new color over different first coat?
Comments (6)Okay, if you're still painting, I think you need some sleep! :-) First of all, it is always advisable to do two coats. You might get what you think is adequate coverage with one, but there will be spots you don't quite cover and YES the color does come into its own with the second coat. Palladian Blue is a far cry from Light Pewter. I think the QM will give you what you are looking for once you have two coats on four walls. Remember, there is a reflectivity factor when paint bounces off itself from wall to wall. The color builds. PB is a very strong blue green. It is lovely, but quite a departure from the gray you started with and I have a hunch that's not what you're after. I'd keep going with the Quiet Moments....See MoreOne spot left in my rose bed. Please help me choose: DCT or Valencia?
Comments (9)Towandazz - Thank you. That's great to know. I do need apricot roses. Moses - I totally agree with you about DCT's color habit. I googled lots of pictures and found that the only stage I like is before fully open when the blooms are yellow with delicate pink edge. They become unattractive to me once turning into mostly pink. Karen - The spot where I planted Fragrant Cloud receives full sun exposure. So FC just melted in summer sun. Not only the flowers wilted, but also the foliage looked unhealthy. The spring flush was good, but the blooms didn't last long on bush or in vase. Maybe it's just an inferior plant since I got it from Homedepot. How is your FC? Does it handle our 9B heat well? If so then I might consider to buy one from Regan. I really miss its fragrance. One of the best in all my roses. Better than Double Delight. Sheila's perfume has been on my wish list for a long time. I hold off buying it because of mixed reviews about its heat tolerance on HMF. Someone said it does well in 110F, while others complained blooms frying in 90+ or losing petals in heat. How is your sheila's perfume in the heat? How long do the blooms stay on the bush? Thank you....See Morebpath
