No one commented, so I will. I like the counters the way they are. I definitely would not mix quartz with actual granite. I just wouldn't, and many pros cringe at the idea as well. With a stone that has that much movement, a solid color is your best bet, but I still don't think the solid color of anything except perhaps actual wood/butcher block would be aesthetically pleasing.

And if I were going to use butcher block in one place, it wouldn't be right around the sink area, and I've never seen butcher block on a backsplash, either.

Why can't you put in a different (larger) undermount sink?

@josephcorlett does that all the time and shows his work in these forums.

I don't think that @ sign created a notification for him, but you can certainly search for his work.

soapstone for the project. noting some black tile above cooktop....wrought iron stools ...youd love the soapstone there. one shown below is a dark granite the other is soapstone. note the soapstone sink!!!

A sink like this from costco would work? Since we have a water filter and soap dispenser, would we ruin it by cutting those extra two openings. So the order would be to purchase sink lst, hire a tile/granite company installer, then a plumber?

Yes; just did that sink as a top mount:

No. Stainless is easily drilled with the proper bits and lubrication.

Confirm your countertop alterations first please. Oddly, most of the fabricators you call are going to mistakenly believe that they can't charge you enough to make it worth their while. You must disabuse them of this notion.

You'll have a much easier time getting a top mount cutout made than an undermount. It doesn't have to be as accurate and there is no profiling and polishing on site which few fabricators are capable of doing without mess.

When you've confirmed your fabricator, buy the sink, have your plumber pull your sink in the morning, your fabricator cut/profile the cutout, then have the plumber return to strap the sink in place and connect the faucet and drain lines. (Since I have a Florida plumbing license, I'm a one-stop shop.)

Following this thread with interest because I facing this in my rental property. My granite is in excellent condition but the sink was damaged (cracked somehow, not sure how!) and I don’t particularly care for the white divided Kohler that is there now. The sinkbase is Merrillat with center post which i also hate but thats a different discussion. Sounds like a drop in after cutting would be best.
