Guidance Appreciated for Window AC Unit Installation
Comments (2)Hi weedmeister. Yes I did try that. The one we were able to look at from inside the apartment had the unit resting on the channel on the sill. From what I could see from looking out an adjacent window, there were some sort of brackets attached to the bottom of the unt frame which beared on the exterior metal window frame. I could not tell if the brackets were screwed into the exterior metal frame. I also don't know if these brackets came with the LG unit they had. I have a call into the fellow that re-installed it this season (his girlfriend did not know the details). I thought the recommended way was to put a spacer on the sill to bring the mounting elevation above the obstruction. Problem is I don't want to mess with the marble sill to attach the spacer. There was no answer at the other apartment we tried....See MoreColor selection - open floorplan and competing finishes
Comments (9)My neighbor has a bunch of neutrals in her house and was kind enough to bring leftover paint for me to try out (I might as well, the walls look like a patchwork quilt at the moment, why stop now). So today I put up Putnam Ivory, Cameo White (which I knew would be too light but I did it anyways) and Lighthouse Landing. I also got large squares of Monroe Beige and Stonington Gray at the paint store today. I really like the Stonington Gray with the marble and the kitchen cabinets. I really didn't want to go with color per se, but I might have to. The other idea my neighbor had was to bead board the backsplash area at the bar (over the marble). I could paint it White Dove (the trim color) and then do something else with the other walls. All of the neutrals look too yellow against the cool marble and only a couple of them have enough contrast agains the kitchen cabinets. Any thoughts on the bead board idea? Open floor plans can really be a PITA! Sueb20 - I agree my cabinets must be lighter because I have Natural Wicker in my basement and it definitely looks darker than the cabinets. Your post reminded me that I should throw some of that on the wall too and see how it goes. I'm going to run out of paint sampling space if I keep it up at this pace....See Morelooking for guidance
Comments (8)One problem with buying a home in a sub division with new construction still going on is that in the short term the home doesn't appreciate and it's at the mercy of the builders. As qdognj pointed out, the builders can give buyers all kinds of incentives that you're not able to provide. You built a year or so ago, your home is still considered new, but not "brand new". The builder is offering buyers in your neighborhood - carpet upgrades, counter top and cabinet choices, possibly throwing in all kinds of other enticements like money back at closing or no closing costs etc. I'm not sure at this stage you can compete....See MoreCompeting color schemes - Gloucester Sage or Desert Twilight exterior?
Comments (8)My first thought was…you can’t really see the house well enough….the trees and shrubs are covering most of the house…i would start by removing the overgrowth..so you can see how much natural light you will gain…before you choose colors…also a picture from the curb showing the whole house and property …even a slice of the neighboring homes …will help toward a more encompassing choice…...See Moretoddinmn
