Should I tile the kitchen or choose laminate?
Comments (21)Laurel, if keeping surfaces level is important, I believe tile is out. When I had my floors done, they floated, or leveled, the slab first. That requires putting down lathe about 3/8" thick, then filling w/ cement & going over w/ long straightedge. Then the tile goes over it, raising total height ~3/4". Cinar Interiors, thx. When we did add'n w/ master bath in '84, I didn't know boo about tile even though I'd replaced linoleum in our K 6 mos. after we bought house in '76. In master bath, we picked color but tile subcontractor bought tile. It's a 4x4" on floor, vanity countertop, shower & tub surround. I think GC saved $$ w/ tile sub at end of project. Subs for other trades were good, but tile guy not impressive. When we resurfaced LR, entry, K & DR, we used 18x18" in diamond pattern w/ Emp. dark borders & baseboards. Hall, 2 bathrooms in front of house & laundry 12x24"....See MoreAll my house is white and grey... What color should I used?
Comments (7)Photos would help us help you. However, in general, if you tend to like neutral rooms but feel a need for a bit of color without going too bright, you can always use a toned down color in your accessories (pillows, table/wall decor, rugs, etc.). That way, you still get the soothing simplicity of the neutral colors you enjoy with a little interesting touch. Another safe and effective way of adding color is by simply adding greenery to a neutral room. In my experience, a few green plants are exactly what a neutral room needs to liven it up a bit....See MoreWhat color should I paint my cabinets? I have White Dove walls.
Comments (0)I just painted my walls in White Dove by BM. I have a subway tile backsplash in the kitchen with black grout. I'd like to paint my cabinets white and the island Navel (dark blue), but what color white should I paint my cabinets? The subway tile is a bright white and the WD if a very soft white/gray. Worried they will all clash or have too many shades of white going on. Help! :)...See MoreKitchen flooring suggestion - What color should I choose
Comments (4)I would make a decision about what is going to happen with the rest of the house in 2022. If you decide not to replace the floor next year, then try to match the kitchen to what you have in the rest of your home. If you decide to replace the flooring in your home in 2022, just put something inexpensive and easy to remove (sheet vinyl??). And then replace it all next year. Don't try to hang on to the kitchen flooring just because it is new....See MoreRelated Professionals
