What color should I paint my cabinets? I have White Dove walls.
Comments (0)I just painted my walls in White Dove by BM. I have a subway tile backsplash in the kitchen with black grout. I'd like to paint my cabinets white and the island Navel (dark blue), but what color white should I paint my cabinets? The subway tile is a bright white and the WD if a very soft white/gray. Worried they will all clash or have too many shades of white going on. Help! :)...See MoreWhat quartz should I choose for my log home kitchen?
Comments (1)@Angie W What colors do you like for a counter? Black, Beige, White? Quartz comes in almost any color or pattern. Have you taken a stained cabinet door and taken it to a slab yard? That's a great way to look at the quartz options to see which you might like. You might discover you want something more natural like Soapstone or granite or quartzite....See MoreShould I paint my kitchen white?
Comments (21)Honestly, the backsplash is expensive to replace. You have quite a lot of it. I dont think it looks bad as it is. I would repaint the walls, and leave it alone. It is something you can do later. You have just bought the house. You may encounter other expenses, that are necessary to do, other than a perfectly good, nicely done backsplash. It is always best to live with things, for 6 months to a yr, before changing things permanently, if they are not in immediate need of redoing. What you think you want now, will no doubt, be something you dont want in 6 months or a yr. A house needs to be lived in, to tell you what it needs and what you need. I would probably paint the walls a light color, like a light mint green, or a very light aqua, and get moved in, and get some accessories around here and there. I am betting, you wont even notice that you dont have a new backsplash. It really is fine, and well done, and not to the point where you really need to sink a couple thousand dollars into it to change it. I would maybe replace the lighting. Looks like only one hanging fixture and rest are can lights? I wouldnt paint the knobs, but, would spend the money to replace them, with either the bronze, or black. My preference would be black, and black in the light fixture. Make sure all your bulbs are daylight type led. My preference 4000 to 5000 but, that may be too cool for you. Nothing less than 2700 -3000 though. Put any money you spend, into things, you actually need, not what you think you might want, because, its all new and you are excited to get everything perfect....See MoreHow do I choose the right white for my kitchen cabinets?
Comments (17)When all the samples were paired prior to install they looked great together. I wanted a white tile backsplash to add a layer of texture vs. colour. I had about 20 different white tiles and they were all bright white or warm white. So I opted for a multi tonal tile so it would pull all tones of white/grey. Unfortunately, the backsplash is so cool and the cabinets are so warm it has made the tone difference look a lot greater than it should. I have full sun on the cabinets from 11:00 am until sun down every day so its a lot. We rarely need to turn any lights until winter when the sun sets earlier. I know the sun is a huge culprit. I have having built ins installed in my living room which is directly across from the kitchen (so I would have to paint them the same as the kitchen white). The entire back wall of my house is windows so I know I’ll have the same issue there. This is why I need to have the cabinets sorted before because it will drive me crazy to see yellow everywhere....See Moreherbflavor
