Good for you! One time i fixed the vent on my microwave by watching a youtube video. I still feel proud of myself.

I've changed my key fob battery several times but the last time I looked on YouTube to see if there is a secret to getting the key fob apart. The video I watched had you take your key out of the fob and use it to pry the two pieces apart. Worked so easily!!!

I've saved myself several hundreds of buck$ using you-tube several times on how to fix my riding lawn mower. The last fix was replacing the starter gear which I could have never done on my own, I would have most likely bought a new mower long ago without you-tube. The same with my weed-eater, it would not start - and just a simple you-tube demo on how to clean the spark arrester saved me from buying a new one (again).

I too have used youtube videos to do repairs and even showed major tractor operations to DH which helped him do repairs too. It's so wonderful. Google receives billions if not trillions of questions every day...how did we get answers before???

What did we do before the internet? I don't remember. It's been a part of my life, so much of my life! ;)

I had a similar feeling of accomplishment when I watched a Youtube video on how to change the battery in my garage door opener. I had left the keys to the Cathedral City house in the house, but we have a digital lock on the front door, and I was able to get in that way. I keep a spare garage door opener in my bedroom, and so I had that, but it was no use if I could not get in the house. I lend the extra garage door opener to contractors, but recently I let the cabinet guy in via the digital lock on the front door so that he could get in to measure my kitchen when I was not there.

The main problem with the digital lock is that it will not work if its batteries are dead, and so I try to check them regularly. I now also make a point of keeping my keys with me, especially the gate and back door keys.

I had to order batteries for my garage door opener, and I believe they are also 2032 disc. Now I have a few extras.

To go one step further, I needed to start my car to go buy replacement batteries for the keyless fob. YouTube showed me how to disassemble the fob and where to insert the inner part to start the car. I love the Internet!

I can testify that yes those keys cost a lot, and tho some are available from other sources, some are only available from the dealers. I wound up spending a little less than $300 for a spare from the dealer about 5 years ago. I wonder what they're going for now?

I had a "pat on my back" moment when I hit a stump with my lawn mower and completely bent the blade. I knew it was going to be expensive to get a "guy" to do it and I needed it done right away so I could finish mowing. I went to YouTube, learned how to do it, went to Lowe's and bought the replacement blade ($16) and even had the right tools in the basement. It wasn't difficult and I got the lawn finished in plenty of time.

Before the internet we called someone using the yellow pages to do the repairs for us.

I had rotator cuff surgery on my right shoulder and I found a YouTube tutorial about how to modify my tee-shirts to be able to dress myself by slitting the arm up to the neck of the garment and relplacing the seam with Velcro so I could step in and out of them instead of pulling them over my head.

I just took my dead key fob to the battery/shoe repair kiosk in my local mall - they've changed batteries on watches, fobs, garage door openers for me. Cheap and quick. Worth a few bucks. Never been near the dealer for a key fob battery.

My key fob stopped working 3 yrs ago and I went to a local AutoZone. The guy replaced the battery and it still wouldn't work. He said to take it to Honda and order a new one. I never did because I knew it would cost a fortune, so I have to use the key to unlock my car, which is a pain!

Maybe I'll try YouTube to see if the guy in AutoZone didn't do it right.

Didn't use youtube but I cleaned out my junk drawer in the kitchen along with discarding all my old prescriptions and over-the-counter medicine. Gained a whole shelf. Accomplishment!

I had several proud of myself moments a few days ago. It was the riding day from he//. My mentor was grumpy. The day brought everything from spooky horses, wind, wildlife, meeting up with strange horses with riders who had lost control of them, just a perfect storm for things to go wrong. The day started when I found that someone had completely unrigged my saddle and left it all in a tangled mess. I managed to put it all back together and actually fit it properly to the horse. Just six months ago I wouldn't have been able to do it without help. Even the paid wranglers have trouble with the particular set-up on that saddle. Same day I dropped my glove on the trail. I jumped off to retrieve it and then had to find some way to get back on. Walked about a quarter mile uphill and found a tree stump. It was still too low but I managed to make a leap of faith and clamber on somehow. I wish I had a pic of my instructor's face. LOL Not really a big deal except I am recovering from a bruised/cracked (?) rib from flying in the air and coming down hard less than two weeks ago. Not bad for a 71 year old. Baby steps lead to accomplishment.

Here;s my confession. I have never cleaned the filter on a dishwasher I owned.

Since we really use ours ( now that we replaced it about 2 years ago) I was reading the manual and saw where it said to clean the filter routinely. I looked at the directions and was convinced I would be able to remove it, but probably not get it back in. I put it off for over a month. Adding that I even printed out the directions with the diagram and had it on the counter waiting for me....

Decided to look it up on youtube. ( my DD always says that's the way to go) and sure enough it showed how simple it was. The video itself was under 50 seconds so that gave hope.

I did it and could not believe how minor a deal it was.

Something you may want to look into is a folding mounting block. They attach to your saddle and telescope much like a camera tripod. Small and compact.
