Comments (4)Well, it´s dead. But some plants in the same container seem to be doing OK, which have obviously had the same conditions. We can only really guess at the reason, could even be some obscure infection, or no real reason at all, but like other folks say, your soil does look a bit suspect. There are as many favourite soil mixes as there are growers, and I have now firmly settled on a well-draining gritty mix with a good proportion of limestone for my desert cacti, with just a little organic material. I totally avoid soggy peat, which means any commercial ´cactus mix´, as they are invariably full of peat or even worse - ´forest product´- read sawdust. A gritty mix in unglazed terra cotta pots will set you up. Err on the dry side rather than overwater - it is quite difficult to kill a cactus through underwatering. They are succulents - they will store water when it rains heavily, then be well able to survive drought conditions for weeks or even months....See MoreWhat’s wrong with my echeveria?
Comments (10)You can try to save it if you wish. First unpot it and look for mushy rot. If you see it, toss the plant. If all looks firm, including the stem, get a clay pot with hole-- smaller pot than the one it's in. Purchase commercial cactus/potting mix and a bag of perlite. Rinse the perlite through a strainer to get the tiny particles out. Combine the mix and perlite 50/50. Repot, a little higher than it is now. Don't water for 4-5 days. No direct sun, bright light. When you do water, let it run out the bottom, then don't water again until it's dry....See Morewhat’s wrong with my dioscorea elephantipes
Comments (22)Can you take a pic? No it’s not normal for it to feel squishy, but it also could be thirsty. When they’re in active growth they need regular watering. As soon as the mix is dry they’ll need a drink. Especially if it is a small one like in the OP’s pics....See MoreHU-299119933
