Doesn't anyone use Porter Paint?
Comments (20)Hey Ya'll, I'm in Nashville and I've painted 4 houses with PP. The house I'm living in now has each room repainted at least 3-4 times. Now, I'm getting ready to sell next year and I'm struggling with "neutral colors" for the house to "quiet down" some. I love PP. Its easy to work with for me. My issues with BM is that it dries too fast for me. The older I get the slower I get painting. The PP cleans well with the Silken Touch line. I prefer the eggshell Silken Touch with its slight tecture. Vinyl Flat had a totally flat look. But I found the lesser value of paint in the Porter line is called Vinyl Flat, its easier to match up. In a former home I was able to cover spots with a light coating from a brush and never see it. My favorite colors are in the old fan deck which they will all match with their new tints. If anyone had the formula for SW Blonde, SW Restrained Gold and SW Compatible Cream from PP, please email me at sarge384@bellsouth.net. My guys are having problems matching those, they keep coming out green. I do believe that its the lighting in this store. But PP is my only paint used. Plus I can get it at less cost than BM, SW, Duron or ICI. Skeet...See MoreVent - why doesn't anyone want my business? : (
Comments (15)I own a small kitchen cabinet showroom and I would take your business! I can give you some insight however to the problems you are facing. First of all, buying one cabinet isn't the issue. For me, the delivery is. I use a local service and for me to deliver one cabinet (up to 5) the cost is $250. A whole kitchen costs $350, but no more than $550. To add that cost to the cost of the cabinet, is usually cost-prohibitive. I fortunately, have as my business partner, a contractor with a truck who will do these smaller deliveries for me. However if it is a larger cabinet, he needs another man, who must be paid, and the problem starts again! As far as countertops, kitchen cabinet showrooms usually do not fabricate their own tops. The way this works is, I as the owner, am charged one price, and then I am supposed to sell it to you with an upcharge. This is all well and good except I have NO control over who is making/delivering your top. When they don't show up as planned, when the seam is wrong, etc..., you, as the buyer are mad at ME, and I had no control. It is not worth the $ I could potentially make. Therefore, my practice is to give my customers MY price, thereby alleviating me of the responsibility. My customers can deal directly with the countertop people. I make it very clear. You get my price, but I am not involved. Everyone is happy! : ) That having been said, I will always help anyone with a small jobs - guide you and explain all of this so you don't feel brushed off. Good luck!...See MoreHelp, my marble tile floor doesn't match my marble slab countertops.
Comments (105)Renee you must be overwhelmed with all of these comments. Your countertops are GORGEOUS, so I do hope you keep them. Sophie's suggestion to stain the floors is well worth looking into. For what it is worth my suggestion for your backsplash is to go with a simple solid tile in a lighter color that coordinates with the countertop. I would suggest you not go too small with the tile- 3x6 to 4x12 would be a good size to stick with. You want to avoid too much movement in the backsplash as the counter (and the floor) have quite a bit of movement and you do not want them competing. Let the countertop be the star of the show. Good luck and let us know how it all ends up for you....See MoreBacksplash doesn’t match cabinet color
Comments (49)Don't worry about the difference you're seeing between the trim and the tiles. When looking at the space as a whole, it's not noticeable. Definitely go with contrasting tile. It lends itself more to the farmhouse/boho vibe you're going for. But with the nice butcher block counters, I like the idea to choose a warmer gray grout such as the Oyster Gray posted above. You might also want to choose a more greige color on the walls than the one you're considering, something like Sherwin Williams' Accessible Beige or Behr's Toasty Gray....See MoreJillian Peery
