Help! Moving into new bedroom and it desperately needs a makeover
Comments (2)I'm moving into the bedroom as a a permanent roommate. The bookshelf can be taken out of the room so I'm debating whether or not to keep it. If I keep it, I'd rather not paint it. I'm very into Scandinavian/Japanese minimalism mixed with "Wes Anderson" style. In terms of budget, I pretty much try and buy based on three criteria: 1. Efficiency 2. Price 3. Style. I'll pay more for something if it ends up being extra efficient/multi-purpose over something pretty. If it's just pretty but kind of a chore/hassle to move and doesn't give me much use (Like, say, a mini credenza), then I won't buy it unless it's on sale/a thrift store find. Anything over $300 I consider a splurge, and I'd like to splurge only on unique accent pieces. I guess I should state that I do have a small steamer trunk that's very Wes Anderson style. It's about 16" high and 30" long and painted cerulean blue with a slight lacquer to it. It's super, super similar this trunk. I'm totally open to any color scheme! But my selling point for the cerulean trunk was because of how vibrant the blue was. I wonder how it'll look against the beige laminate floor.......See MoreUnfinished new bedroom needs help!
Comments (83)These are some very good suggestions, but we don't want to add a rug right now. This is our summer home and considering our two dogs that shed a lot I like the simplicity of the hardwood floors. I ordered the swing arm lamps, and am still considering what size and shape of pillows to get. We sleep on standard pillows and have two king size ones to prop in front of them. Those can be covered in the white cases that go with our white sheets, or I can search for colored cases or shams for them. Then, thinking of how small the room is and knowing they will end up on the floor at night, I would like just one or two pillows for the shot of color the bed needs. I still am thinking about this fabric I found the other day. I like the colors and the playful Chinoiserie pattern which goes well with all the Asian art in the rest of the house. Having it made up at Calico was somewhat pricey, but a few Etsy shops seem to offer it, too, so I just need to decide if I can get by with one long rectangle or need a couple of squares. Once this is decided I'll look into a throw or something for the foot of the bed....See MoreHelp needed with layout of new home master bedroom
Comments (6)If the picture is being taken from the entry I suggest moving the bed to the wall that you have the mirror propped up against and the dresser in between the Windows. Add two unexpected nightstands that are larger scale (at minimum 36” wide. Hope it helps as it’s hard to visualize the layout...See MoreNeed help with master bedroom furniture and layout for new lake house
Comments (12)Floating the bed is a nice idea but you wouldn't have room for any type of night stands. An armoire is a wonderful idea for extra storage. Something like this with some extra drawers would work. https://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Grain-Wood-Furniture-Greenport-2-Door-Armoire/25739333/product.html?option=43173892 Then use bachelor chests or 3 drawer nightstands for more drawer storage. https://www.wayfair.com/furniture/pdp/rosalind-wheeler-lusia-3-drawer-nightstand-w001460587.html If there's room, perhaps you could add a bench under the window. Just simple white sheers on the window since you don't seem to need privacy. The floors are beautiful and it's a lovely room. A modern antique brass bed like this would make a wonderful juxtaposition in a traditional room! https://www.burkedecor.com/products/westwood-bed-in-antique-brass?...See MoreKendrah
