Living Room Design Ideas for my new home
Comments (10)You have a lot on your plate. It's not necessary to decide everything all at once unless you are paying a decorator and contractor to swoop in and do everything. Since the living room ideas are not flowing, I would hold off on making a plan. You'll learn things and get inspiration while you are working on the other rooms. I'm not sure of the style of your house but careful about adding trendy or expensive permanent changes that might clash. Your bedroom wood wall looks a modern farmhouse element and your kitchen cabinet style and finish look a bit Tuscan. If you are dying to make new purchases for the living room, I would start with a great rug and build from there. You have a great space and it looks very livable. There is no need to jump in and make a bunch of changes right away....See MoreDesigning a family room in new home
Comments (3)If you're transitional with some traditional furniture, a big and beautiful Oriental rug would be the first thing I would choose to establish the mood and color direction in which you want to go. At any rate it's a very good idea to find inspiration pictures of what style and colors you like before you begin to shop for anything. If you google "transitional style" and click on images you'll find hundreds of pictures that you can then narrow down to your particular style. It's really important to do that kind of homework before you begin the expensive process of buying rugs, furniture etc. You can also look under "rugs in transitional living rooms" or "colors in transitional living rooms" to give you further ideas. Idea about layout can be given here but we need to know more particulars about the style direction in which you'd like to head....See MoreHelp design living room of new home
Comments (18)@partim1, @havingfun No there wouldn't be a TV in this room. Please see fourth wall pic below. in that pic you can see the main entrance door on the right. The opening on the top left of pic is to Dining Room. The second picture is taken standing at the front door. There's big picture window behind those curtains. No we don't need those 2 opening on either side of the fireplace. We have another opening to get into family room behind this room. We're open to any colors i think as long as everything goes well together.seating maybe 3-4. Thanks guys....See MoreDesign style for New House’s Living Areab
Comments (10)@groveraxel, thanks so much for the ideas! I didn’t even know what “transitional” style was so I’ve been reading up on it. (I thought maybe you meant like college dorm to first apartment style, haha.) I have a variety of ideabooks now, but it was more in general than geared to any house. Out of curiosity, how do you all determine what is or is not a certain style of house? I suppose I leaned the way I did based on the kitchen style — but seeing how no one agrees that a farmhouse style would work in here, Im curious how one goes about determining that? Thanks for the feedback and ideas, everyone! Lots of work to do... I plan to move most of my stuff into the house first and then start selling off things to replace them one at a time. I just wanted some idea on what to buy - and now I have some ideas!...See More- 2 years ago
