Comments (4)cozy room, and what a great window! a sofa plus two chairs sounds like a great plan. If the TV is to be on the wall-make sure is normal viewing height for all family members (since for example I know one lady who can't watch their wall mounted TV, so it leaves her out of this family activity) decide whether just a credenza beneath it would work(should be larger than TV..say, TV takes two thirds of credenza length..smth like that), or you have additional storage needs for that room-maybe books, maybe games, maybe collections..? If yes I'd think how to make all the storage concentrated, cohesive and well balanced. If your storage is going to be wood-I'd go with other material for coffee table..maybe ottoman in a case of room for comfortable lounging. I'd put a tray on it so it can be used as you wish-sitting when you need it, or table for drinks, or whatever you fancy. If you have ottoman you can forego one chair..make one of side tables a stool for example so can also be used for sitting when needed. Comfy and nice to touch pillows(don't need to be many..I usually prefer 3 for a normal sized sofa as I love odd numbers) and a throw or two. Look at it less as "decor" more " I want to indulge myself and family every time we're there". More chance to get things right if you look at them as something that can make you happy from several points of view:) I'd incorporate a table light or maybe two. and a floor lamp. So I can play with lighting per my mood, read, etc. A side table or two. The idea is everyone has some surface next to him/her when sitting down. They don't need to be big or matching, or of similar shape. Even better if you bring some different shapes, like round etc I'd bring plants too. Obviously curtains..for when you want more privacy/less light for TV watching..the rod is there for you already And last but very much not least, art of course. You probably already have some art you love. Do you have preferred style, colors you love? Patterns that you like seeing? Materials you prefer in upholstery and casegoods? Saved pictures of rooms you love? If you can share your preferences we'd be able to better help with specific suggestions My main advice is not to hurry but rather to lovingly gather. Discriminate..:) Choose only things that speak to you and to each other so to say. Congratulations on your new home!...See MoreJust bought a new home - Redoing entire living room - Help Needed!
Comments (8)Realty photos are always a little stretched to make spaces seem larger, so it is difficult to get a sense of the room's scale. Is the front entrance in the stairwell area opposite the FP location? I'd say the light/wine rack area was originally designed as a dining area near the kitchen. Do you need to use it that way? For a family friendly corner, it could become the spot for a game/snack table or bookcases/rocker/reading lamp for baby time. Have the light moved or removed to your liking while you reno. You haven't mentioned or shown us your furniture, but a 3-seat sofa and two armchairs are a good foundation for any living room. These arrangements could work well around the FP, leaving the TV where they have itm as these are all swivel chairs. In the 4-chair group, you could do swivels only on the TV side of the grouping....See MoreNew Home - Designing a cozy living room
Comments (4)I see the problem. Center the sofa and rug between the windows...not on the fireplace. Then put an easy chair or recliner in or around the bay window and facing the TV. Very nice house, congrats. I like your decor. But the ladder is too small with those ceiling and put the plant in the bay window. The grouping of three paintings is too wide for the sideboard. Do this...Remove the middle of the three paintings and use just the two brown ones. Then hang the blue piece over the sofa....See Morehelp me design our new living room
Comments (14)A whole home color palette doesn't mean that you will choose one color for your entire home, but like coordinating an outfit, the colors used in each room will tie that room to the rooms that are next to it. Most of us have colors we love. My sister loves fall colors, muted moss greens, orange reds and golds. I love purples, teal and reds. The idea of selecting a whole home color palette is to select a neutral color family that works with the things that you can't afford to change or don't want to change and the colors that you love (colors found in your art and décor). Then you pick a white that works well with your neutral and then you decide how and where you want to incorporate your colors. My sister's home is beautiful, but my art and belongings would not look good in her home. Her art and belongings would not look good in my home. In the home below you can see where the colors move from green to purple with a room in the middle that has both colors. They chose a white that works with both of their main colors for all the walls. This home carried the colors from the main living area into the bedrooms and bathroom using wall color....See Moreabhi1040
