Awkward living room layout

Hi there Houzz! So my dilemma that I would love to fix, is minimizing my family room’s awkward layout. We have a longer than wide space, which is like 22’ by 20’ in dimension with a corner fireplace. I hate to have my sofa in the middle of the room, but that was our best option due to the wall dimensions.
So my question is what kind of entertainment table should I get???? It will replace the one pictured.
The new tv will be larger but will mount on the wall that it is currently and the ceiling fan will be updated once the brown ceiling is painted white. **The rug will be larger and the individual accent chair will be sleeker than the one pictured as well.
I am having a hard time with this space since I have limited wall space 🥴

This is a challenging layout but I think you've done a great job and the ideas you have for the rest of the transformations are spot on. I like the light wood color of your counter stools and of the stand next to the sofa with the vase on it. I would look for a media console with that color wood.

Check out Crate and Barrel prarie and luke. (Luke has a big price tag but is a lovely look and perhaps you could shop around for something like it.)

I also like the layout. Looks like you could use a narrow console table behind the sofa. Check out Blu Dot for one that’s only 11” deep and about 60” wide. I have one at the back of my sofa and it’s perfect!

If the room is super narrow, I'd put the TV on the wall between the kitchen doors, couch opposite it under the windows (don't set it right against them- leave some space for the heating) and get some light-blocking curtains if the glare is an issue during the day. If space allows, you could square up your entertainment stuff on the shell wall, put your couch opposite it, but place it about 2/3 of the room away from it. Depending on the width of the room, your MCM chairs could be angled facing the couch conversationally or both placed under the window side by side.... lots of things you can do! You can put your put the piano on the wall by the kitchen with a LARGE colorful (or black and white if that's what you love) art piece hung over it to make a statement. Doesn't have to be expensive- grab a 20% off coupon for bed bath and beyond 😜! And you still have for an entryway built-in by the door if you want. Your bookshelves might be able to go by the front door. 🤷‍♀️

I can understand why you would want two sectionals. It makes sense with the tv above the fireplace. I think any seating you put directly across from the tv would be a strain to look up at for any length of time (unless you get a reclining couch/sectional). @Beverly s idea to open the room would solve many problems if the space above isn't being used. Otherwise I might try to leave the sectional ends open to each other so one side isn't rejecting the other. Or give the left side some light armchairs that can be moved around the space when needed

the pro taken photos are meant to capture as much of the room into one shot. the problem is, it exaggerates the size of the room. can you stand over by your stairs and shoot into the room? try opening the front door, stand in the doorway, and shoot another pic from that angle. would you like the TV over the fireplace or against one of the walls? do you have any plans for that fireplace? could you do something like this? or what about like this? 2 sofas facing each other, two chairs in the middle. those shouldn't block the walkway to the kitchen. you could do smaller chairs instead of two sofas, one sofa facing two chairs, tv above mantle sofa against front door wall, coffee table, large recliner or two other chairs,, maybe some smaller ottomans on the kitchen door opening side. this is what beverly suggested: sofa/chairs coffee table imagine this is the far wall to the right of the FP. set up the sofa w/back to the front door. you could position the chairs differently. you'd have that whole wall for console for tv, gaming. maybe a sofa w/a chaise. stick a chair over in the corner by window below, front door would be behind the gray sofa. (or, you could reverse this on put tv on the front door wall) sofa w/chaise like this:

IMO the wall where the setional is in the plan is where the TV has to go We need the new floor plan done to scale and yes the measurements of the sectional too Are you open to getting new furniture ? from the drawing the sectional in too big for the space .It also shows a different sectional that what you have so a to scale floor plan all meaurements clearly marked and the sizes of all the furniture you have .

Since you have a corner fireplace, but you want to have the sofa face the TV/console area, we might suggest getting a long, low console for under the new TV. You also might try a sofa table behind the sofa, if seeing the back of it bothers you. Below are just a few of our designs we thought we would share that might help you with your space a little more.

Do you have a coffee table and if so, can you post a photo of it? Because the fireplace extends to the corner of the space, the media cabinet sticks out in front of it and crowds the chair view to both the fireplace and TV which may be the reason you want a new chair. I wonder if it would feel roomier inside the seating area to forgo a media cabinet once the TV is wall mounted. You could then scoot the sofa toward the TV a bit and get it out of the walkway, and fit a sofa table behind it. The new chair can be placed closer to the sofa or the one you have may now fit better without a media cabinet in the space.

Here's a plan for you to consider. Since the room is asymmetrical, don't fight it. Angle the furniture at a 45 degree angle with a large coffee table 42 x 42. Keep the 9 x 12 rug perpendicular to the wall.

The TV wall is important to have some sort of horizontal plane so that your focus is not jumping all around the room. Keep the top of the TV below the height of the fireplace mantle. Besides looking visually pleasing, it will be much more comfortable for watching. When you get a cabinet under the TV make sure it is low to the ground.

Consider painting the lower half only of the TV wall a color (paint from the mantle height down to the floor).

Keep the top of the TV aligned with the top of the mantle V V V
