Miele floor model vs new Bosch? Stove/cooktop is next!!
Comments (70)SO, there was no word from Mr. Appliance today AND Miele was also unable to reach him ??? Did they not offer to put you on their in house guy's sched. at that point ? Do not disagree with you about EXPECTING a working DW - floor model or not. However, you didn't get that and there is no going back to square one. It's like a wrecked car - it's not EVER going to be unwrecked. You chose to pursue a remedy and that's what has turned into a fiasco! I'm not convinced that if you had gone in on the 9th ( which makes it only 20 days, not a month) that FL Builders wouldn't have stonewalled you then too. Perhaps they would have convinced you to have it repaired and they would have sent their "guy" who just may have been from your favorite: new york minute - then how much agro would you be writing about. Additionally, your first contact with the actual manufacturer who underwrites the warranty was on the 15th or 16th making it 5-7 business days depending on how you count em. Now 7 days doesn't exactly make me feel all warm and fuzzy but it's not an eternity either. I'm more concerned @ MR. Appliance going AWOL and Miele's inability to get movement. The svc. cntr. is still open the left coast crowd - maybe another call to them for an explanation @ Mr. App. at least. Maybe they'd bump you up their guy's list - though the person to make that happen won't be in until tomorrow on the East Coast. "What silly things have I done? " Not exactly silly , but going back to the unhelpful , and stonewalling dealer to expedite the repair and alter the terms of the deal ( xtended warranty refund ) was not your finest moment. I understand you wanting to be rid of this mess, and I hope you can get you $$$ quickly - but prepare yourself for another battle with FL. B and your cc co. If it (battle) doesn't happen, great - but you'll drink less and have fewer grey hairs if in fact it shakes out that way. Remember the dealer experience when they wanted your $$$ - think about how they'll act when asked to give it back to you ! Be sure to get EVERYTHING IN WRITHING from the dealer when returning the DW....See MoreCooktop/oven in a 'corner'?
Comments (24)cluelessincolorado- Good eye, it is indeed a Sabra Field, it's of a field and barn at Shelburne Farms. I'm from Vermont, where she's practically royalty, and am lucky to have a couple of them, although my other ones are packed away like yours. And thank you for the compliment on my kitchen, it's going to get (re-re)painted this spring, right now it's a sea of paint chips as I attempt to channel the next color. Regarding the corner range, I know for some people maximizing every square inch of counter space and storage is a priority, for us it wasn't, we don't have multiple sets of dishes or lots of decorative items to store in cabs (I'm a "layerer", so most of my decorative stuff is out and on display). For us the corner range happened serendipitously, I found 2 pieces of purple and green Vermont slate cut to fit on either side of a corner range at a local tile place changing out a corner range display, and since I am a sucker for a bargain, I snapped them up ($20 each), and the corner range deal was sealed. It's all about knowing what you like and what your priorities are. sandyponder...See MoreKitchen remodel and dilemma about 36 inch cooktop
Comments (4)Yes, posting your designs would help. But, from what you've described, I would say do the 36 inch cooktop. A 12 inch wall cabinet is more useful than a 9 inch. I know I'm in the minority, but the asymmetry of 9,36,12 would bother me, versus 12,36,12. However, 15 inches is rather small as a workspace between sink and cooktop. If you post your design, I'm sure that you will get more helpful feedback here. I have a 36 inch cooktop and used to have a 30 inch stove. I absolutely love the larger cooktop. That would be a priority for me....See MoreCorner Cooktop hood help needed!
Comments (17)Thanks, Lee. That is actually quite cool. My GC and KD and I had a good look at things on site and two things came from the discussion: 1) I had screwed up and given KD the wrong size for the window, (it is 48", not 42") SO, that forces us to extend the window header SO, we can move the window down. 2) Moving the window down allows us to have a more normal looking upper cabinet to the left of the cooktop, while GC can build a box around a hood in the corner. That was my original question - fitting in a corner hood that protruded more than 12 inches off the back wall w/o making adjacent cabs inoperable. I recognize the need to maximize that upper cabinet storage. Larger window will have an effect, so I am waiting on new drawing. The walls are 160" on the sink wall and 205" on the appliance wall. The island right now is decent size and has drawers and cabinets. I'll have room for stock pot, rice cooker, crock pot, etc. Drawers will hold cereal and snacks for the kids and pantry will hold canned goods, pastas, less frequently used appliances, etc. I really am not worried about space, but am going to map things out this weekend. Funny, things happen for a reason and I do believe my lost sleep and negative feedback from GWers gave me the incentive to meet again with KD onsite and thankfully we discovered my HUGE mistake regarding the window. That would have been tragic had I ordered cabs thinking we had a 42" window! Thanks all!...See MoreTanya Schoettler
